I would rather get taxed 45% than having to sell my house to pay for cancer treatments.also people dont go at all in the hospital if they dont have insurance in the us,i would rather wait in line than not having the option to go to the hospital. What is wierd is that you point out only countries like canada and the uk where the system has some downsides. How about Italy, Germany,France etc where the system works fine? I know somebody that had to go to bulgaria to perform a brain aneurysm surgery because the insurance wouldn't cover the cost .is it better to wait in line or just die because the insurance would not pay?

So you want higher taxes, in other words, you prefer giving your money to big government so they can decide what your access to healthcare is?

Why not keep your 20% income and put it aside for your future health expenses?

well 20% of my income set aside will never amount to 500k to 1 milion $ or more that a single surgery costs. What if i need more than that,or home care? The state is there for a reason ,to provide some basic protection for who is poor since bezos and zuckerberg can pay for their own healthcare and dont care about money anyway

You should be asking why health care is disproportionately expensive here, not bickering about how pay it.

The answer is use your 20% savings to go get it done for pennies on the dollar elsewhere.
