I edited my previous comment, but apparently Mom didn't check on him until 2pm Tuesday. Neglect.

2 p.m.?????

What mother would not check a child who sleeps that long? Most children never sleep past 8 a.m. Something's not right here. If I were that mother, I'd keep my mouth shut for fear of CPS taking the other kids away.

2:30, actually. And the boy slept w/ the 3 year old sibling (who is fine). ...Parents didn't even sleep with the three year old???

'Cristian was still responsive when his stepfather, Manuel Moreno, woke up in the middle of the night to check on him, his aunt Jaliza Yera told KTRK. "He made sure they were okay," Yera said. "They were still breathing. He covered them up, patted them and went back to sleep. " '

Supposedly step-dad checked on them in the middle of the night. They were 'still breathing'? Very weird thing to say.

The perfectly fine 3 year old brother who was sleeping right next to him means something other than hypothermia was going on with the 11 year old. I have trouble believing that a confirmed primary cause of death has been established this fast. If something else went wrong (seizure, asthma attack, etc) the hypothermia may have been the result of losing consciousness, not the cause.

No confirmed cause of death yet. Yes, a possible underlying health issue if nothing more sinister.

Yes, it sounds strange. But maybe English is her 2nd language and it sounds different in Spanish.

May very well have meant "still sleeping". My dad recently passed away, and what happened was he went to bed and never woke up, but in the morning my mom thought he was just sleeping, because he was snoring, but he was unconscious, not sleeping. She couldn't rouse him and just thought maybe was tired. Eventually she called EMS. The stepfather may not have known he was near death. It is odd that much of the next day the kids were left alone. I do not understand that.
