Sounds like neglect. How was the family not all huddled up together? The low there was in the teens.
edit/ Mom did not check on him until 2pm.
Your power goes out during a crazy winter storm and you don't check on your sleeping eleven year old until 2pm?!
I fell asleep last sunday night with an open window and wearing thin pajama pants and no socks on. I woke up at 3:30am monday morning wondering why the hell I could not feel my toes or my legs. I was simply laying on the ground in my VR room watching youtube when I had fallen asleep.
So when I finally was able to get standing, I threw on some warm socks, alpaca lined slippers I got from Peru and I laid out 4 differing types of blankets/comforters on my bed and balled up underneath them all. Yes, it was cold as Pelosi's heart, but with a burning desire inside me to get warm, I was able to do the very basic things that a half competent human being would do and I layered the shit out of what I had.
When I finally woke up, knowing I had lost power already, I naturally checked the water and it was frozen. Fortunately, I had enough foresight to leave my faucets outside dripping and suffered no busted plumbing by doing so. But I still had no water. So during the rolling black out, when electricity was working, instead of bringing all my portable heaters inside, I found/knew where the plumbing entered the house. I placed my heaters against and towards the walls where the plumbing entered and while it took several hours to work, while many of my neighbors saw me outside checking if the water was running, they were surprised that I had running water. Let's just saw, the water pressure was higher than I had ever seen it before when I unfroze my pipes. It is now back to normal pressure, but having only gone for 30 or less hours without water wasn't the end of the world.
After I had the running water, along with my heaters furnace heating the house, I then was able to locate the portable heaters to keep my ass toasty. Being a thin blooded mammal, I am basically frozen feeling when it hits 60F or colder. I think most Texans would agree that below 60F is more than pants and jacket weather. It becomes long johns with jeans, double long sleeves and maybe a sweater with a jacket over that. And I am not exactly a light build man, I got some extra meat on my bones. With that in mind, I don't think the kid was properly cared for by its family. It almost feels as a horrible leftists excuse to try and get money for their own laziness and neglect of responsibility for their own fucking child.
May the little boy rest in peace, but fuck that little boy's parents.
I read about this at the Daily Mail yesterday.
If their trailer was cold enough that a child died of hypothermia while sleeping with his brother, that trailer was damn cold.
Some of the responsibility for his death rests with the parents IMO. May he rest in peace.
