In my opinion the most important and overlooked aspect of the Moderna vaccine trial is the fact that of over 30,000 participants (half of them vaccinated) only 196 people developed any symptoms at all, only 30 of those cases had symptoms classified as "severe", and only one person died.
I would guess that there would be far more severe illnesses and deaths if the same type of trial was run using the seasonal flu and the flu vaccine.
