This isn't particularly surprising. Biden represents a corrupt house. What did he do with Ukraine? Extortion. What is he doing here? Extortion. People have voted for a corrupt party that can extort with impunity.

People on the left will say they like Biden because "he gets things done". This is the cheater's paradox. People favour the cheater as they appear more successful but are blind to the cost of victory. Sooner or later they're going to find themselves hit. This is only going to get worse and worse.

getting what done?

i'm seeing federal actions that are essentially punishments on America for voting Trump. They know that the entire country voted for freedom and justice and now they are punishing us for it.

32
muslimporn 32 points ago +33 / -1

They tend to believe he's accomplishing something or rather. Doesn't mean it's true. That's how they see it though. The reality is you have someone coercing and forcing people or at least trying and usually what they're being abuse to do isn't in their favour.

It usually consists of do this thing for me that will hurt you or I'll hurt you more than that thing. This is how people like this work. They're terrorists. The only thing they really achieve is harming a lot of people and making a mess all in the interests of more deeply entrenching their regime or serving what they believe to be their own interests.

Don't under estimate just how retarded Biden supporters are. They believe he's defeating the Nazis or something, a faction that was destroyed before he was born. I wonder what it will be next? Will Biden put a stop to Genghis Khan's marauding hordes?

17
muslimporn 17 points ago +18 / -1

The left don't see it that way. They don't all have the same neurological disease but they tend to have a common set of diseases.

One of the big ones is that they genuinely believe in crisis. That the world is going to end. It's a kind of chronic panic disorder worse than a malaise. They believe it's am emergency. Greta makes this quite clear.

Some people are also panic addicts, they get a kind of euphoria from it. You know how some rituals involve going into a trance? It's like that.

They see someone like Biden who will do anything to win such as cheating as essential. They need a dictator and someone with no limits willing to do whatever it takes to save the world from global warmageddon. In their minds the world is also on the brink of disaster with a repeat of WWII but infinitely worse imminent.

8
Neonentity 8 points ago +8 / -0

You have it exactly. It is a cult of panic.

I've heard them apologize to strangers that someone in their family is pregnant and will give birth. You know, into a climate-doomed world.

This coming disaster is of their own making.

2
DeplorableCentipede 2 points ago +2 / -0

On the other hand, don’t we believe the world is crisis too? The prevalence of degeneracy in the world is at an all-time high, and globalists are seeking to eradicate white people from the face of the Earth. Seems like a crisis to me.

6
Side-o-Beef_Curtains 6 points ago +6 / -0

The difference is we don't advocate for a strong-man dictator, or the destruction of this or that economic sector to avoid degeneracy. We simply advocate for liberty and family values with a hefty dose objective moral code taught by faith.

3
muslimporn 3 points ago +4 / -1

That's based on a process which is directly observable. Age however is a huge factor. If you've been on the internet for ten to twenty years as an adult you will have seen huge changes in things such as the level of censorship and authoritarianism.

I do remember the debate about immigration and wiping out white people over twenty years ago. In that time you would be much less certain. When you see what's happening today and what every major institute is saying...

Do a search for anti-white racism and see the top few results basically describing that white people can't experience racism. I've also whiteness things like a massive campaign to claim that race doesn't exist.

There are however people who will have a better grasp of it than others. Climate change at least has some basis because we are potentially able to effect the globe on a large scale though people are overly hyped up over it and it's really used to just arbitrarily control people. This is more of a you have to do what I tell you to do and you have to do it right now or the world is going to end sort of thing.

You see this here where they impose extreme restrictions just to be able to generate enough power for a relatively brief period of time which would be a drop in the oceans as emissions go as though that alone could be the deciding factor between whether the planet becomes uninhabitable or not.

The whole second coming of Hitler is entirely fabricated. No basis in it at all unless you look at the left who really are fascist ideological fanatics.

1
Snoman 1 point ago +2 / -1

Interesting points, is this theory or can you provide sources.

3
muslimporn 3 points ago +6 / -3

greta house is on fire

Your approach is not welcome here. Take that back to reddit. This isn't wikipedia where you need to cite sources like some kind of a cult or else you're not legitimate.

Take that disgusting attitude back to academia and lose those bad habits. If you're going to disagree then provide an argument. If you want to know more then ask. If you don't know if it's true or not then ask.

You however have no idea what is or isn't fact or theory. The absence of "sources" doesn't tell you either way.

If you're going to make propositions like this must have sources else it's a theory then if this were real life you'd get your teeth knocked out. The internet doesn't always give good examples of how to behave in real life. Don't go around dissing people like that.

Would it surprise you that this tweet isn’t true and that actually the Biden administration did grant the waiver request?

Start at the second full paragraph on page two. Biden didn’t stop them from generating more electricity and waived the pollution control standards.

1
PatPede1 1 point ago +1 / -0

It did surprise me a bit that the tweet played fast and loose with the facts. The fact is that the State of TX was granted enough wiggle room to produce as much as needed. That permission, granted in the "eleventh hour" yet still reasonable timeframe(The Sunday night before the shit really hit the fan here in TX), came with a litany of caveats, penalties, reporting requirements and price caps to be sorted out later.
Since I actually took the time to read the letters and attempt to digest all the minutiae, I can see permission was granted. It galls me that the only other person that seems to see this has chosen the handle "scumcunt." The real facts on the ground for individual users in TX is that our energy comes from myriad sources. Many of the generating sources were hobbled by the impacts of the weather at the source. Even if they hadn't been, there were still outages due to infrastructure damage as banal as a tree limb falling on a transmission line. Many people simply ran out of propane in their own personal tanks, trucks couldn't reach them to refill due to icy roads. Does anyone really want a truck loaded with potentially explosive gas riding around on TX Hill Country icy roads? Add to this that many homes and the overall infrastructure simply aren't built to a standard to meet an unprecedented event compounded the trouble. The real bottom line is that this is an unfortunate event, an act of nature, and is being hyperpolitized as a political hot potato like every other aspect of our society. That is the real shame of it all. In the not so distant past, say 40 years ago, we could all have agreed that a 4-day hard freeze in South Texas was an unprecedented event in modern times. We could have simply regarded it as a call to set new standards for our personal and public infrastructure. We wouldn't have needed to tear each other apart, or provide false witness for political gain. Somewhere in my heart I still believe the general public is smart enough to see that. All that said, Biden sucks. That's the truth.

Can you define the term waive to me?

Have you read the rest of the paper?

Can you say exactly what is waived?

Have you read the date?

6
Scumcunt 6 points ago +8 / -2

What? Sure I’ll do these weird exercises for you. When answered sufficiently will you acknowledge that you posted fake news?

  1. “Waive”, in this instance, is to grant a reprieve (give a waiver) from certain pollution reduction measures as requested by Governor Abbot for the duration of the emergency.

  2. Yes and I linked it because I like to check primary sources and not listen to nobodies on twitter. It’s four pages long and was attached to the tweet.

  3. Sure. ERCOT requested a waiver to emit more of certain pollutants as the deemed necessary in order to provide the public with uninterrupted power. Specifically; “ ERCOT anticipates that this Order may result in exceedance of emissions of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, mercury, and carbon monoxide emissions, as well as wastewater release limits.”

  4. It was issued on Valentine’s Day at 8:51pm and was scheduled to remain in effect until 11:59pm on 2-19.

But why take my word for it? Read it yourself https://www.energy.gov/sites/prod/files/2021/02/f82/DOE%20202%28c%29%20Emergency%20Order%20-%20ERCOT%2002.14.2021.pdf

4
muslimporn 4 points ago +8 / -4

Waive = unblock. You can't unblock if you don't block in the first place. When was the request made and when did the adverse whether conditions start? It took two days to come through.

What would you call the rest of the document? Screw it, I'll just tell you. Further restrictions and inhibition, massive red tape. Almost prohibitive conditions. So not an unconditional waiver but with strings attached.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Price_fixing

A massive price hike at a time when emergency power is needed for a few days? Enormous markup.

Who even picked that figure? Why $1500? Who foots the bill? This might as well be a fake waiver for plausible deniability.

If you're going to be Mr Pedantic read the whole thing and don't fall for their scam. These are corrupt people. These are the games they play. There's no such thing as a waiver. There's always a price attached to everything.

7
Scumcunt 7 points ago +8 / -1

I was typing out another response to you, I’ll drop it at the end of this because it gets into the discussion of “waiver” I was being kinda lazy with what is a very specific term of art in the federal government. This is technically an “order”, but if you want to play ‘gotcha’ with a dictionary then this won’t get anywhere. You’d have to go to the federal register to figure out what a waiver is to the DOE anyway, that don’t just copy and past from Webster’s... The request was made on the 14th and it came through on the 14th. Read the primary source. “ On February 14, 2021, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), the Independent System Operator (ISO) whose service territory includes 90 percent of the electric customers in the state of Texas, filed a Request for Emergency Order Under Section 202(c) of the Federal Power Act (Application) with the United States Department of Energy (Department) “to preserve the reliability of bulk electric system” Yeah. The rest of the document, after, “do what needs to be done” does ask for a report of what happened after the 19th. One of my main beefs with the federal government is that too often transparency leads to a slow moving process. It’s tough for me. If there is going to be a massive federal bureaucracy, I like to know what they are doing. Also, where did I say that the DOE order was, “unconditional” but more importantly, why was it not brought up that Abbots request was granted, however feebly, by no one else in the thread. I don’t understand the relevance of the price fixing link. Edit: sorry, moving too fast, responded to another person and came back to this. Yes, every watt generated that resulted in “excessive” pollution was extortion.

3
muslimporn 3 points ago +7 / -4

It requires the excess energy to be charged at an exorbitantly high price among other things.

Consider how aggressive these restrictions are. Read the whole thing.

We're talking perhaps one state on a week to two weeks of emergency power generation. Look at how extreme they are about even that.

3
Sweetpede 3 points ago +5 / -2

Aptly named, scumcunt. Do you think the waiver counts if they’re required to charge $1500/megawatt hour?

3
Scumcunt 3 points ago +5 / -2

It’s extortion, the entire Texas energy system (well, the entire US, but that isn’t the subject) is extortionate, but that is only for any of this excess power that is needed that would go over pollution controls, not every watt generated.

9
preferredfault 9 points ago +10 / -1

Ask yourself, is the power that Americans need to heat their homes to keep from freezing to death, ever really "excess power"?

4
ViagraFalls 4 points ago +4 / -0

There are people who don't think he's a cheater. There are people who think Just Sign It Joe is actually thinking and making decisions. There are still people who believe mainstream media outlets. The mainstream media thinks Joe Biden is wonderful.

2
muslimporn 2 points ago +3 / -1

Technically speaking he doesn't need to cheat. They do the cheating for him. Sort of imagine someone turning up at your door one day saying they've chosen to make you president.

I would normally say if you go around your day to day business and don't research it but instead worrying about your life's immediate concerns you would probably tend to presume innocence so it would be normal for people not to believe that or know if the charge is true until they've seen the evidence.

However, I think at this point if people don't see there's something suspect going on when for example you need a massive censorship campaign trying to make it illegal to even make the accusation of something illegal then that's got to be a big red flag.

If there was no basis to it you would simply ignore it.

2
ViagraFalls 2 points ago +2 / -0

They didn't just show up at Biden's door. He's been a fraudulent politician for over 40 years now. He knows how the game is played.

1
bitcoiner 1 point ago +1 / -0

People have voted for a corrupt party that can extort with impunity.

Some did, but not the many!

0
muslimporn 0 points ago +1 / -1

Quite a lot did cheating aside. On the ground the left my comprise of all sorts but you can easily generalised because the majority of them are beholden entirely to their masters. They still have a large number of guaranteed votes from their supporters.

It really should raise alarm bells in their head when you think about the following...

They consider Trump as awful, Hitler or worse than Hitler. Someone who should never be elected. So much so that they say it would be less democratic to bipass democracy than for democracy to vote someone like that in.

However if her were so terrible then why would there be a problem? Surely it should be much easier to produce a far superior candidate. Surely it should be possible to have someone far better than Biden win the DNC candidacy.

It shouldn't be hard for them to get a great candidate. All it takes is someone reasonable. Not someone screaming on about how we need to have mass immigration no matter what and other insane things. Just someone normal and they eviscerate the middle ground.

For reference, people get distracted sometimes by Trumps occasional flamboyance but overlook that he's just a normal, reasonable simple guy by default.

That should tell the left that something is very very wrong.

2
DixMcCoy 2 points ago +2 / -0

And funnily enough, Adolf Hitler wasn't all that bad in context with some others you most certainly will never hear about in public education and even higher private education.

Almost like... it never happened. Figures that make Uncle Adolf look like, well, to quote a guy "the JV team" by magnitudes of actual quantifiable figures and metrics.

1
muslimporn 1 point ago +2 / -1

I can't juggle. If I ask someone how they do it they'll say they just do. It's like a kind of magic. After you explain the technique either you can do it or you can't. It's like a kind of magic.

The left have some kind of a Hitler complex that's a lot like this. They will often ask how could he be so evil or how could he do it.

They sometimes believe he had almost supernatural powers such as being some kind of savant orator like a horse whisperer but for humans. That he could somehow hack them almost like Code Geiss or Preacher. This is one reason they go after "hate speech". A bit like NLP or psychological persuasion.

The truth is he wasn't that remarkable. He was just a normal person really or within normal human parameters. The only thing that's remarkable is that he was a man of his times and had also lived through the horrors of the first world war.

This inflicted a huge psychological trauma on Germany and it wasn't just the brutality of the war in terms of physical violence but psychological warfare from both sets of leaders against the Germans took a toll as well.

People on the left like to try to work out what was wrong with Hitler which often involved diagnosis at a distance. They tend to like to imagine they have magic powers like remote viewing or Gnosticism that lets them know what was wrong with Hitler.

For all this obsession with Hitler a lot of people miss that he was a very tiny component. Millions upon millions played a role. Whenever I read about those times in history the more I read the less I realise I know.

A lot of people chasing down Hitler really don't know what was wrong with him and end up chasing down random things or anything that is different. This is a fault of the human mind which insists on understanding what it cannot.

A lot of people on the left fail to realise Hitler was heavily influenced by left wing thinking and predominantly aligns with left wing today. People on the left wing fail to recognise internal disputes within the left wing for what they are and instead mistake them for left versus right.

In the great hunt for Hitler along us there's a great danger because when it comes down to it Hitler was just a random specimen of human. All you're going to do is end up hunting down humans and that's not something you can do idly or casually.

Hitler wasn't infinitely wrong. He was right on a lot of things. Not always entirely right however.

The thing is, when the left need to leverage Hitler to try to understand what's right or wrong that's very troubling. In that case it's like being the juggler confronted with someone who just doesn't have the knack. They lack an inherent sense of right or wrong.

21
JudicialDredd 21 points ago +22 / -1

Why did they ask a resident from DC if they could save their sovereign state from freezing to death?

6
anotherthing 6 points ago +6 / -0

Apparently, some judge ruled that since emissions can travel across state lines, the Federal government gets to regulate them. It's really a stupid argument, because the same argument can be made that since they can travel across borders, the United Nations should be the ones regulating it.

Succession is the the next in line for power under a chain of command.

Also, Texas is still part of the Union whether we like it or not and we still pay federal taxes, so of course we want the US to step in and honor its fucking contractual agreement to protect our state. If anything, this whole fiasco just fuels the argument for secession. Why the fuck is Texas paying taxes to a government that does fuck all for us?

Time to leave.

1
goldkeyboardwarrior 1 point ago +1 / -0

Trump's DOJ intentionally impeded his orders because they would rather obey their masters in the Deep State. That's why those blue states can get away with ignoring the laws they don't like.

On the other hand, we know that whoever is pulling Biden's strings is also pulling the DOJ's strings, and they won't have any issue trying to make an example of a red state.

Not to mention they are the masters of distraction. You will have a hard time finding anybody who knows about this, but the whole country knows that Ted Cruz went to Cancun and SNL even made a skit about it as expected. That is not a coincidence; that is by design.

12
Stable 12 points ago +12 / -0

To minimize adverse environmental impacts, this Order limits operation of dispatched units to the times and within the parameters determined by ERCOT for reliability purposes.

All entities must comply with environmental requirements to the maximum extent necessary to operate consistent with the emergency conditions. This Order does not provide relief from an entity’s obligations to purchase allowances for emissions that occur during the emergency condition or to use other geographic or temporal flexibilities available to generators.

People are dying from lack of energy in temperatures 20 degrees colder than normal and while they're granting portions of the waiver, nearly half of it is bogging the waiver down with bullshit "environmental requirements", including the idea that they have to "purchase allowances for emissions that occur during the emergency condition". I was ready to believe there was a nuanced position here, but this letter bullshit and the tweet isn't far off.

5

1

Emissions allowances are industry standard... for energy, O&G, any form of production. From this letter, if allowances were available and not bought, then it’s on ERCOT... which all of this shit is anyway. They’re complete shit lords for allowing kWh’s for being price gouged the way they were during the outage anyway. Absolute trash. The current admin is still full on MASA though... no escaping that.

Glad to see multiple people asking.

I don't get the food rotting issue at people's homes..we have a 15 year old fridge. Second day without power the food in the fridge side was still 40 degrees. We moved some milks and slightly more perishable things to the garage where it was about 17 degrees just in case

The freezer side was ice cold, meats were all hard as rocks and the temp read as 27 well under freezing.

-2
StrangerThanFiction -2 points ago +1 / -3

Food safety standards require the freezer temperature to he zero or below.

5
axrevolutionai 5 points ago +5 / -0

Yes, but meat that is 100% frozen to the touch and infrared thermometers at well under 32F is still safe. Meat needs to thaw to 40F for bacteria to begin to multiply. A restaurant absolutely needs to cover its bases but at home the chance that food is rotting at ambient 20f is next to none.

Either way, applying proper judgement is key.

People are also saying "Texas wasn't connected to power grids outside the state." Turns out yes they were. To the east and to Mexico.

5
DonJr2032 5 points ago +5 / -0

Classic Texas:

About 2:10 into an ERCOT video about its history, ERCOT explained that Texas has an independent grid because of its response to the 1935 Federal Power Act. The law gave the federal government authority to regulate power companies that engaged in interstate commerce. So Texas power companies agreed not to sell power outside of Texas, which allowed them the ability to avoid federal regulation.

7
Sl0re10 7 points ago +7 / -0

Heh or cynical. They want to entangle Texas so it would be harder to leave the union.

4
FrmrAmericanRepublic 4 points ago +4 / -0

I think people confuse it with the fact that Texas can totally isolate themselves if they need to from the other grids. At least that is what I recall about their system. Something about specific interlinks they can disable at will.

What I don't understand if certain states and cities can ignore federal law/authority with "sanctuary citites" why in the hell, in any other situation, would other states simply follow federal authority?

Basically, the entire concept of "sancturary citites" and the people that have them undermine the relationship and power balance between all states and the federal government.

It is for this reason, places like Missouri should indeed say "Fuck your unconstitutional gun laws, we're not enforcing them" -- sancturary cities and states for 2A was at first a joke or a meme but if you follow through this to its end logical conclusion...

Texas was playing along due to the virtue signaling with a minimal "yeah yeah ok we'll play tour stupid game". There is Federal funding attached to it, so I'm sure some politician made a boatload of money for playing along. Its really really rare that weather this severe makes it all the way to us, so they probably thought it couldn't hurt. Problem is - once you shut down oil/gas plants, you can't just go turn them back on. There are a LOT of safety and maintenance issues that need to be addressed. It was a gamble they took and it blew up in their face. Probably just in time to stack on the argument for secession.

DixMcCoy 1 point ago +1 / -0

Sorry for the late reply, meatspace is a helluva thing.

I'm making the point of -- well, what happens when there isn't funding or some quid pro quo attached? Like, it really does undermine the relationship between the state and the federal government.

Certain states can literally ignore federal laws and hinder federal agents in their jobs (INS, DHS) openly flaunting "sanctuary cities" but since we're post civil-war, states shouldn't be able to "pick and choose" which federal laws they're going to follow.

The US, population-wise, is very small. A province in China (that isn't Western China, aka Bumblefuck Nowhere) has roughly 1/10th the population (~30mil) of the US. Yet we're reaching a point with federal over-reach where we think as individuals we want states to have specific laws and if you don't like it, legislate it away or GTFO. I'm beginning to like this thought in terms of states rights and laws.

The goofy mags and handguards Californians with rifles must have, what is up with that? I was just sayin' that with how things are going, special rules exist for certain states to ignore certain federal laws and hinder federal agents doing lawful, constitutional shit whereas in other places. In others, unconstitutional shit is being basically thrust upon the population up on high from legislators from D.C... sounds vaguely like the EU with their ministers in Brussels.

Assuming election fraud has always taken place, moreso in local elections/less visible elections than primaries of POTUS, then, it really isn't that different from unelected EU burecrats determining how people in a far-away place whom they know nothing ought to live. By foisting legislation upon them. The gun stuff being the most eggregiously unconstitutional horseshit ever. Hiding illegal aliens being the second... you get the picture, I think.

"Green energy" and "climate change" are Chicom inventions to make the US uncompetitive. Trump was right, as always, and Biden is a puppet of Xi Jinpig.

Collective punishment is back, baby! We are in a sci-fi robber baron controlled United States again.

I don't understand why that would be the case. If anything it should add more wind, because things would have gone a lot better if Texas was it's own nation.

This persecution of Texas is one that goes all the way back to the Obummer era. He hated Texas and did his level best to hurt us Texans at every turn. I detect his grubby monkey paws all over this scheme. I've got a list of the petty shit Obummer did over the course of his 8 years, and it looks like he's back at it.

This is leftism at work, kids. These are savages who don't see us as fellow-Americans to be helped during a crisis; rather, they see us as enemies to be punished. They can't stand the fact that Texans have a 'fuck-you' attitude...but here's the thing: the people the feds hurt weren't rural, deep-red Texans. They were punishing the blue cities full of fellow-leftist morons.😆

Dravous 18 points ago +18 / -0

isn't this not that different from the Holodomor? as in:

"you're not allowed to grow food except in the way we prescribe"

"you're not allowed to generate power except in the way we prescribe"

smaller scale, shorter timeline, but to me the spirit along the same lines.

Trump offers help during the 2020 Summer Riots and Covid, Swamp Government says "NOOOOOO NOOOO RACISMMMMM".

The people "Please, help us!" Biden: bids his time, accepts bribes from the enemy, because he believes, if he ignores a problem, they'll eventually die to the enemy that fills his pockets.

:/

It's a degree of war yo. Small time, pussy-esque, close to guerilla, but war none-the-less. It ain't real, FULL ESCALATION WAR, Nukes going off left and right, the atmosphere crackling, about to burst. And that's what all the seniors and vets fear most of all - countries snapping, bombs going off, the sky burning.

6
preferredfault 6 points ago +6 / -0

Meanwhile every liberal blindly trying to bash Texas says this is not the case, that Texas simply wasn't winterized properly and that Texas's non-federally run power plants simply cut corners and somehow aren't even subject to federal regulations.

It was all clearly a coordinated political attack on Ted Cruz, despite the fact that he wasn't even the guy in charge of these things. Governors are the ones to handle these things, not Senators. I mean shit, all you need to do is look at who has been running the lockdowns to know who is in charge of these things for states...It's governors! I haven't heard any news stories like "Senator issues lockdown orders", because that's not what Senators do!

These people turn blood thirsty over everything because they have no fucking idea or respect for how our system of government is supposed to work, that they'll get riled up at a Senator going on vacation for not handling a crisis that isn't even their job!

4
ReallyReallyDun 4 points ago +4 / -0

EXACTLY - Look how much news press was on Cruz, for taking a vacation with his family during bad weather, then look at how much press was out on Cuomo who literally murdered like +/- 15,000 people in old folks homes.

Hey retards? Did the environmental impact of reconstruction of property via fuel spent shipping materials that wouldn't have been needed if property wasn't destroyed from busted pipes, the impact of making the new stuff, the expense of extra lumber required while we're already in a shortage, etc etc?

Don't forget all the extra food that's needed now because stuff spoiled, or all the plastic from the bottled water because the water isn't safe to drink without boiling in big parts of Texas.

You consider that retards?

There are a lot of sites saying this isn't true. Don't read the articles or stupid 500 char tweets. Read the actual PDFs:

Original Request from ERCOT: https://www.energy.gov/sites/prod/files/2021/02/f82/ERCOT%20202%28c%29%20Emergency%20Order%20Request%20-%2002.14.2021.pdf

DC Response: https://www.energy.gov/sites/prod/files/2021/02/f82/DOE%20202%28c%29%20Emergency%20Order%20-%20ERCOT%2002.14.2021.pdf

There does appear to be some level of micromanagement going on here, but that's not untypical. However it is important to note DC told ERCOT they needed to exhaust purchasing power from providers outside Texas before they could increase their limits.

Whenever there is a high demand, other states jack their prices. Back in the 2000s when California was in an energy crisis, the North East was charging them super high prices, but they were charging TVA normal prices, so California bought slightly jacked up power from TVA that was really purchased from the North East (it ended up taking the shortest route on the national grid; so it's literally the same power).

1

1
Scumcunt 1 point ago +3 / -2

This tweet isn’t true and if you read the letter linked the tweet you would clearly see on the second paragraph of page two that the emergency waiver of pollution standards was granted.

Here is the letter from the acting DOE secretary. https://www.energy.gov/sites/prod/files/2021/02/f82/DOE%20202%28c%29%20Emergency%20Order%20-%20ERCOT%2002.14.2021.pdf

And here is the quote. My apologies for typos, transcribing from PDF.

“I have determined that additional dispatch of the Specified Resources is necessary to best meet the emergency and serve the public interest for purposes of FPA section 202”

And then in the next paragraph.

“I direct ERCOT to dispatch such unit or units and to order their operation only as needed to maintain the reliability of the power grid in the ERCOT region when the demand on the ERCOT system exceeds expected energy and reserve requirements.”

Why can we not fact check what we post?

4
Righteous 4 points ago +4 / -0

the tx gov said the next day they DIDN'T "dispatch such unit or units" described in the letter
