That's true, but definitely in a different fashion.
In many parts of Mexico, as a store owner, you must pay the cartel monthly, large amounts, or face the dangers
Constant robberies. Groups of men's brandishing fully automatic machine guns in broad daylight, stopping cars in the roads daily.
All sorts of crazy things. Our Cartels in America more so are a form of deep state that actually interfering in our lives physically.
Most of the suit wearing gangsters in America play a game where they don't need to come within your radius to extort you, but lobby and fuck you "legally".
Or, illegal, like how the IRS or DOJ have been continually weaponized against private citizens who've done nothing wrong.
Well, I was watching this documentary from a guy who travels to the most dangerous parts of the world.
He's a young Russian man... I think his YouTube account is called "the people".
Went to Mexico, Wuhan, North Korea, Venezuela, ect.
And he mapped out which parts of Mexico are controlled by which faction of cartel.
And most of the big areas are controlled to some extent, with the most dangerous of the Cartels being the ones running the border areas.
I suggest you watch his videos. They are really fun to watch, and he doesn't get political at all.
He will talk about the politics itself that ha sthe policy which effects what's happening, but when he brings up people like Trump, he doesn't have TDS or anything, and gives an very honest portrayal of the situation.
Like he did an episode at the US Mexican border, and was very real about how dangerous it is, how deadly, the human trafficking, ect.
I'll link a video to you of his from Mexico about Cartels. He meets with major bosses and interviews them.
Super interesting, and I highly suggest watching the episodes on North Korea! So interesting!
Here's a link to the episode about traveling around Mexico. It's very informing about how the government in many areas is non existstent. No police, military, ect.
Just cartel running the show, producing heroin.
A specific highway is used to transport of 40% or all heroin that comes to USA, and therefore its important the cartel maintains control of said highway.
All very interesting stuff to learn about. A very violent country due to the heroin epidemic.
NGL, I'd rather see that than the military being accomplices to the cartels. Hell; if that's what it would take to root out cartel influence in the US once and for all, damn straight I wanna see it happen ASAP.
The Cartels are operated by the intel agencies. They're a guerilla operation that allows them to seize power where they wouldn't have it, extort more money than they already do, and kill enemies with impunity.
I was in Texas near the Texas / Mexico border visiting an old friend for a week, and she said that I should not go outside walking around the neighborhood because my skin was so white I could be taken by the cartel. Her family explained that it had happened a couple times at least in that area. I walked to the car and from the car to the store or mall and that's it. Never alone outside, ever!
Very smart. The cartel is really composed of the world's most dangerous gangsters. Ms-13 is most prominent among the borer areas, and they are known to be the most violent and heinous gang worldwide.
Ya know, I really have no idea. It's tough, because the only way to get involved would be to send in our military and declare war.
But if we actually rid Mexico of the cartel, I think the majority of Mexicans would rejoice.
My moms cousins are 100% Mexican, now living In America.
They came decades ago, legally, and did everything the honest way.
They left mainly due to the growing violence. It was to the point where her cousin named Victor would fear for his life, getting death threats.
Essentially over NOTHING! He's a kind hearted family man, and in USA, has zero to worry about.
BTW, they are staunch Trump supporters. They believe in the American dream, and have become Americanized.
They love America, and hate to see illegal aliens be treated with respect. It's like spitting in the face of the millions of honest, hard working, good intentioned legal immigrants who had to spend years, thousands of dollars, and hundreds of hours of hard work to get here and become true Americans.
No illegal aliens should stay. None. If you are in a fucked up country like Venezuela, you need to apply for refugee status at our border, not in our country.
We're in a fucked up time in America. The way I see it is, our country will fail, but multiple states will form a new union, without leaving the current union.
They will defy the federal government, and protect their own from the reckless policies.
I hope this happens sooner than later. We're already starting to see a battle being of states rights VS federal Gov implementing policy.
And the fact sanctuary cities were allowed to go on set precedent for states to do the same for other policies, like gun laws.
We will win in the end... Or, we will all die trying.
But I'll be dammed if I'm going to watch America be destroyed!
Idc about the shit hole states like NY... Where I live haha.
I'll move. I'll move to a deeply conservative state like Oklahoma
And btw, we shouldn't encourage Trump to become president.
We should have Trump go become Governor of Texas!
He'd make a fantastic Governor! I'd move to there instantly.
As Governor, he'd actually wield more power over his people than as president, in the sense that governors really have control over their own state.
Small point of order: refugees are required to apply to asylum at the first safe country, they are not supposed to pick and chose the richest country. Venezuelans should be applying at the closest safe country, not all the way up at our border.
Not only that, but the drug money funds the pain and suffering.
We really need to end the drug war, not just for ourselves so we can get drugs legally, but also for the poor schmucks living in hell under the cartels.
I mean, we have an illegitimately empowered dictator, but would you want anyone coming in and invading us?
I mean, I guess I would, but it really depends on who, what, when, where, why, and how.
In the case of Mexico, I honestly don't know if the US government is really any better than the cartels. Hell, the intel agencies basically created (and probably still operate) the cartels; I think we need to deal with our own problems before we go help Mexico.
That said, the best way to help them probably would be to defeat the Intel agencies. Without them, the Cartels would be headless; they'd probably get into way more fights and weaken themselves, allowing the people of Mexico to retake their country as well.
Eh... Maybe, but Mexico being run by gangster cartels is there worst issue.
If Mexico wasn't high crime / violence, it would actually be a pretty nice place.
That's true, but definitely in a different fashion.

It isn't like that in most parts but there are some. Makes you wonder why the people don't move away to the nice parts.

When was the last time you saw this in an American city
wow. I hope we never do....
We will if they keep pouring in here.
Countries are made up of the people in them. There's a reason all the white ones are nice. Hint: It's not random chance
NGL, I'd rather see that than the military being accomplices to the cartels. Hell; if that's what it would take to root out cartel influence in the US once and for all, damn straight I wanna see it happen ASAP.

Less violent ones (for now)
In both cases, the solution is to kick them out:

Is there anything we can do to help that... or is that an issue that we really shouldn't mess with?

We could end the drug war and legalize everything the cartel sells so Americans can make it here and break the cartel's monopoly.
I've thought for a long time that the drug war needs to end because it's a failed social experiment that has only brought pain and suffering.
Not only that, but the drug money funds the pain and suffering.

Kinda like California?
That goes for all the countries!
