I think New York City is a funny study.

I feel like democrats will point to New York being a "democrat" city that HAS been very successful in the past (despite the utter shit going down there now)...

But what most democrat voters are not old enough (or not smart enough to understand) is New York WAS a shit-hole before. There's a reason the Charle's Bronson film 'Death Wish' was made about New York in the 1970's.

It took Giuliani, A REPUBLICAN to first beat down the mob, and then clean New York up. (Including turning Times Square from literally a place where you could see a strip show, into a major tourist attraction.)

So I know I've been kinda long-winded on this, but my point really is this: I think there is this belief deep down in the psyches of a lot of Americans (Republicans to a certain extent, but DEFINITELY democrats) that New York is democrat run, and "very successful", but yeah it's having a hard time currently because of [insert some reason (currently covid)]. I just want to be clear that I don't think this is true, or correct...
New York City WAS democrat run. That's when the mob took over and crime rate was at an all time high.

Finally, New Yorkers had enough, and were forced to elect Republicans to deal with the problems democrats let fester.

Then New Yorkers thought, "hey, aren't we on the left? we should be voting for democrats."

And now the cycle is basically back to the 'Death Wish' film days. The wealthy are leaving, BLM is throwing bricks at anyone who doesn't mindlessly repeat their hate-filled mantra, and New York City crime is rising again.

=======

Those who fail to understand history are doomed to repeat it. New York needs to understand that the successes have not been due to democrats, but the failures certainly have been.

NYC cleaned up in the 90s because they had a leader like Trump. Even Bloomberg, despite being a huge asshole, understood that you need lots of police to make it a safe place to live. Now they have literal commies running the place and you can see the degeneracy and rot in real time. Last time I was in NYC about a year ago I walked past a dude pissing on the street in Midtown Manhattan in broad daylight....like WTF are you doing bro???

Lol, I remember visiting NYC with my sister and her boyfriend back in 2015 from the west coast after almost twenty years (first time was 1996 and I was still a kid).. and the first thing we saw literally out of the train station into the street was a black man lying on the ground. I think he was dead.. he certainly wasn’t moving. The police came shortly afterwards.

After we had dinner at Carmine’s and were headed to a pharmacy store we saw 4 cops chasing after some suspect. Out in the open. It was just so chaotic.

Don’t forget that Bloomberg was down double digits until the last two weeks of his first race in 2001, immediately post-9/11. It was Rudy’s endorsement that surged him into the lead. The idiots in NYC were well and ready to turn over the city to the Dems after 8 years of prosperity and changed their minds in the nick of time. Hell, Rudy only won because of the Crown Heights riots.

The sad thing is, they’ll elect someone just as bad as DeBlasio in November and the rot will continue. There’s no Rudy ready to ride to the rescue at this point. The Republicans will nominate some token opposition who will get blown out by whoever wins the Woke Olympics Democrat primary.

So the shootings will continue to increase, the subways will again be covered in piss and graffiti, and the city will keep crumbling. Throw in the telework trend and you have the perfect storm which won’t be recovered from.

You mention Death Wish. I remember a scene with a note called SJW in it talking about joggers committing more crime. I will see if I can find it tomorrow

All great points

This time around with de-centralization of commerce, huge businesses have left, huge businesses were blocked (Amazon), a huge swath of the elite earners have left, and they have invited more 'takers' in to the city.

How tf are they expecting to PAY for all of that with most of their tax base GONE?

I don't think even with the retard c19 bill ($_$) coming in to play it will save NYC, it's like pumping blood into a corpse.
