Good effort, but the joke doesn't land. It's a little too on the nose. The punch line should be more surprising rather than rude.

Ya that's a little better. Although strong man meaning communism or dictatorship doesn't connect with the vegan bit.

Maybe something like, trying to impress her, "I love reading fiction too"
