As reported in the Daily Wire, a county in Missouri passed an ordinance this month that would prevent any federal action to infringe on citizens’ rights. The following is an example to protect our rights from federal government overreach:

https://www.dailywire.com/news/sheriffs-can-arrest-feds-who-violate-citizens-gun-rights-new-missouri-county-ordinance-says

From The Second Amendment Preservation Act of Newton County:

All federal acts, laws, orders, rules and regulations passed by the Federal government and specifically any Presidential Administration whether past, present or future, which infringe on the people’s right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United States and Article 1, Section 23 of the Missouri Constitution shall be invalid in the county, shall not be recognized by this county, and specifically rejected by this county, and shall be considered null and void and of no effect in this county.

The act gives examples:

Such acts, laws, orders, rules and regulations include but are not limited to any tax levy, fee, or stamp imposed on firearms, firearm accessories, or ammunition not common to all other goods and services…any registration or tracking of firearms, firearm accessories or ammunition…any act ordering the confiscation of firearms, firearm accessories or ammunition…and finally, any act, whether past, present or future passed by the United States Congress and signed into law by the Federal Government and specifically any Presidential Administration which infringes on the people’s right to keep and bear arms in Newton County, Missouri shall be considered null and void by the county and not recognized by this county.

In this case, the Sheriff will enforce.

Any and all federal agents trying to enforce the regulations listed in Section (1) shall be subject to arrest by the Sheriff’s department.

Missouri’s own constitution lays out the liberty of bearing arms in no uncertain terms:

That the right of every citizen to keep and bear arms, ammunition, and accessories typical to the normal function of such arms, in defense of his home, person, family and property, or when lawfully summoned in aid of the civil power, shall not be questioned. The rights guaranteed by this section shall be unalienable. Any restriction on these rights shall be subject to strict scrutiny and the state of Missouri shall be obligated to uphold these rights and shall under no circumstances decline to protect against their infringement.

I think sheriffs have always had that power.

70
KMacsBinder 70 points ago +70 / -0

Not only do they have the power, it is their most important duty. Unfortunately there are too many Sheriffs out there who believe that the Supremecy Clause gives unlimited power to the federal government. Even when they act outside of their Constitutionally defined limitations.

23
Strongocho 23 points ago +23 / -0

I was pretty sure the oath they took when they joined the force kinda was completely centered around protecting the constitution... Am I the only one that took that seriously? Did everyone else just raise their hand and recite the words?

12
VoidWanderer 12 points ago +12 / -0

Many officers, and more people in the upper ranks of the military than most like to think about for that matter, treat it like the Hippocratic Oath. An outdated thing that they only swear if they need to but they have no intention to actually follow it.

You need to have morals to actually be willing to follow an oath, and when you reach a certain level of power or are doing anything to achieve that power, those people lack any and all morals. "Anyone that craves power does not deserve it."

3
Equality72521 3 points ago +3 / -0

Agreed. For most, it's simply a formality that you do as part of the tradition or process.

1
ENTP 1 point ago +1 / -0

As a doctor, why did you pick hippocratic oath? I take my oath very seriously.

2
VoidWanderer 2 points ago +2 / -0

Because there are quite a few doctors that don't take it seriously. Those performing abortions and "gender reassignment" surgeries are just blatant examples, but there are plenty that sell out to prescribe certain meds because they'll get kickbacks from pharmaceutical companies depending on how many scripts they write.

You can't honestly say you haven't seen plenty of doctors around you doing harm but they do it regardless. Just because YOU may "do no harm" doesn't mean that others take that oath seriously.

2
ENTP 2 points ago +2 / -0

Meh. I work in the ER and none or my colleagues are doing any of that shit. I understand your point, however.

1
latic 1 point ago +1 / -0

You are saying all doctors are good doctors?

7
KMacsBinder 7 points ago +7 / -0

The main reason Sheriffs bow down to the feds is that they will get their federal funding pulled and face expensive lawsuits if they don't comply. We really need to defund the federal government and take back all of the power they have usurped over the past century. It is up to local and state Leaders like this Sheriff to defend the Constitution. It is up to us to apply pressure and support them in those efforts.

5
CommieCucker 5 points ago +5 / -0

We need to back them up with armed citizens when the feds come to arrest them. Sheriffs really need to be the faces of our Constitutional movement, we need people to stand behind so we don't just become "terrorists" and "insurgents" one patriot at a time.

1
marishiten 1 point ago +1 / -0

Who are the feds going to arrest? The Sheriff's? They're elected.

They can't arrest them.

The feds will pull their federal funding and open up the Sheriff's to lawsuits that will cripple their offices. With no money, they can't employ deputies. No deputies means no law enforcing. No enforcing and feds likely encouraging shit bags to go to the county to commit crime means the people will turn on the sheriff and recall/vote him out where a more 'pliable' sheriff will take office.

Go see your Sherrif and become a reserve. Get deputized for your own benefit.

8
deleted 8 points ago +8 / -0
4
Repentnow 4 points ago +4 / -0

Most (probably all) will require POST before deputizing. But it's worth starting a conversation. Get to know your sheriff and let him get to know you. The vast majority of public interactions the sheriff has are with people who are very pissed at him, so positive interactions will definitely be remembered.

9
NotAPuma 9 points ago +11 / -2

It's statewide, and this is a repost...

7
EndTheFedReserve 7 points ago +7 / -0

Who cares if this is a repost, I wouldn't have seen it if it wasn't reposted. If you've already seen it, then why are you here because it's obviously not for you then

1
NotAPuma 1 point ago +1 / -0

This is the 2nd time the EXACT Same Article has been Stickied, that's my problem. Don't unsticky something, only to resticky a different person's post, citing the same article on the same issue.

1
EndTheFedReserve 1 point ago +1 / -0

Thankfully you are on here 24/7 to point that out. You ever thought that maybe two different mods stickied different posts cause they were unaware of the other. Not everyone lives in the same timezone or has the same schedule. Glad you think it still revolves around you though. Get over yourself.

It "Empowers", except Sheriffs can already arrest your ass if your trying to confiscate guns without some sort of "Federal" Law to back you up.

1
NotAPuma 1 point ago +2 / -1

I'm talking about the ability for Sheriff's to arrest Feds. For Gun Confiscation.

3
deleteDems 3 points ago +3 / -0

This is the way. Local sheriffs departments need to kick out federal law enforcement so they can't arrest our people for wrongthink.

13
Krat 13 points ago +13 / -0

In Seattle, they took away the right for the people to vote on their Sheriff. The Sheriff is now a government appointed position.

5
EricCharliemella 5 points ago +5 / -0

Wow wtf

2
de9ebkmd7 2 points ago +2 / -0

Good job Seattle, that is a very anti-democratic thing to do. Now their sheriff is just like police chief which is a totally politicized office.

(edit: I'm being sarcastic, Seattle progressives think they are being all democratic but all they did was take more power from the people and centralize it in the government).

1
Trump__Supporter 1 point ago +1 / -0

Take control of all the Counties around Seattle, and have all those counties just decide, for no reason, to close all roads into Seattle, and put walls.

If the court interfere and say they're not allowed, say it's moot because they've been dynamited already and they are now ecologically protected areas because of some frog of some shit lives there now.

23
SpeedyPrius1 23 points ago +23 / -0

Don't mess with Missouri. Period!

16
Best4Business 16 points ago +16 / -0

Now that there's precedent, the rest of Missouri needs to follow suit. Obviously not St. Louis city. But everyone else that actually has a brain needs to.

8
Cornpop_A_Bad_Dude 8 points ago +8 / -0

Kansas City, which also has a black democrat mayor, won't buy into this

which is tough shit because it is about to become state law

6
Best4Business 6 points ago +6 / -0

Everyone wants to live in the city, until they see those big city taxes hit their paychecks. Cost of living in the city is astronomical. I had a guy working for me that needed a "cost of living" raise because his rent was almost 3K a month. To live in the shitty part of STL. Which is mind boggling to me. If my mortgage was 3K a month, I'd be living in a fucking mega house.

4
Cornpop_A_Bad_Dude 4 points ago +4 / -0

high taxes, shitty schools, criminal government, crime through the roof, gestapo police- why would you not want to live in the city?

10
Best4Business 10 points ago +10 / -0

I don't understand the "But look at that view!" mentality. I've been to cities. I've seen the views. I prefer my view from my backyard. Trees, river, wildlife, big open sky. Not a bunch of giant concrete and glass dicks we had to put up and charge millions to use.

2
Cornpop_A_Bad_Dude 2 points ago +2 / -0

you could move to the suburbs and look at 350 houses that are just like yours

2
Best4Business 2 points ago +2 / -0

I live in the suburbs already. One thing that annoys the shit out of me, especially since we're talking about having a house built soon, is that all new construction looks the exact fucking same. Pretty much everyone has the same shaped house if you buy from new construction. I like the house we're in now. It's the only ranch style house on the street. The neighborhood was built in the 50's and 60's and everything was built to look original and unique. Which I like. New construction templates make sense, but at the end of the day, I want to be back out of the way. I want to have a little distance between myself and my neighbors. Ya know? I love some of my neighbors now, but I also want that open space and privacy. Most new builds are right on top of each other. We saw one the other day that started at 300K, and the two were set back to back and the back doors basically were maybe 20' from each other. That's not OK to me. People need space.

2
Cornpop_A_Bad_Dude 2 points ago +2 / -0

I hate the newer houses where the garage sticks out beyond the front of the house

like the cars live there and keep people in the back

the reason houses all look alike now is that they are prefab. it's amazing how fast they can throw up a house

2
Major_Nutt 2 points ago +2 / -0

Look at the view

Most often said by assholes who think things man builds are more beautiful that what God created.

1
Best4Business 1 point ago +1 / -0

Agreed. I've been fortunate enough with my jobs to have been in major cities in nice hotels for conferences where the big selling point is "Ahh, look at that view of insert city name here! Isn't it gorgeous?!" When all you see is office lights and buildings. People don't realize the view they're really wanting is the view BEYOND the city skyline. They want that big open sky they can see the stars and sunsets in.

2
Newuser9 2 points ago +2 / -0

I live in dt phx and have $3k rent, but phx homes cost 800k now. And yea lol schools and dealing with constant homeless isn't worth it.

1
Best4Business 1 point ago +1 / -0

If I ever need to go to downtown STL, I make sure I have mace and my pistol on me. More than once I've been down there and been approached by some homeless dude wielding a knife trying to get money. I hate the city. It's disgusting. Trash, dirt, grime, homeless people, and constant construction and road repair noise. I had an ex that lived off of one of the most pricey parts of the city. You couldn't park on the street and had to park at a paid lot 3 blocks away because they didn't want residential tenants taking up space for the retail folks. That was more than enough to discourage me from ever wanting to live in the city.

EVERY FUCKING RED STATE IN THE COUNTRY SHOULD DO THIS!! IF ANY LEADERS ARE READING THIS RIGHT NOW WE WILL FUCKING FIGHT BEFORE WE GIVE UP OUR GUNS!! OUR HANDGUN, RIFLE, SHOTGUN OR OUR MOTHER FUCKING "ASSAULT RIFLES" .... I'm a felon so I can not directly own one (which is a scam in itself! Those felonies were when I was a 18 years old kid that made a few bad choices) I'm 42 now and because of things that happened 24 years ago I am not allowed to defend my family .. but I'll tell you what, my immediate family father, brothers, sister, uncle, step parents and so on own A TON of weapons!!! Of all kinds!! And if the shit hit the fan it wouldn't matter anymore what I did 24 years ago I could fight with theirs!! ... This is the real battle for this country fellas! We have to fight it with more than fucking memes! We have to face our leaders face to face and tell them we will NOT allow this!!! .... We allow them to disarm us we are finished!! Write your leaders about this because this is the biggest issue at stake!! Every state should be doing this!!!! If they try to take people's guns it is an act of war make no mistake!!!
