I am not religious, but I've read the Bible and I'm familiar with the concept of a self-fulfilling prophecy, which makes Israel being the geopolitical epicenter of a whole bunch of conflict a frightening notion. The biblical "end times" myth from Revelations could very easily end up being a reality.
