Oh, Judge Thomas, you dear man. One doesn't wonder at all what the Court waits for. The Court likes the status quo, and the power it gives the Deep State to control this country, and us plebes who reside within it.
I think the court is compromised. Their families are threatened to be killed if they allow these to go through. It's hard to stand up against Fascism when the Fascists have already demonstrated they will murder people (e.g., the car bomb of the governor's daughter's boyfriend).
Just drop a package full of photos of their children and grandchildren walking to school, and a note: "If we can kill Scalia, we can kill anyone. It's inevitable we will win. Why make us kill children to prove it? Just give in on this issue."
"It would be a shame if we grabbed your granddaughter and sold her to sex traffickers. And we own the FBI, CIA and DOJ, not to mention the media, so no one will do anything. You probably don't want to talk to anyone."

Why don't they just come out and said "my family has been threatened someone is trying to influence the court's decision"
