Good thing you no longer have a job you need to drive to or $ to put in the gas tank. Sort of a moot rant - no standing... I think that's the way it is supposed to work.

Plus, having a job and your own vehicle is yet another example of white supremacy. Show your solidarity with POC by living in poverty and signing up for welfare.

Kamalas_a_Bitch 20 points ago +20 / -0

Such an insightful comment. Cars were invented by a couple germans, which is clearly proof that driving is nazism. We should allow POC to develop the auto industry on their terms. Perhaps sustainable rhino tusks would be harvested for bio-diesel. So much potential.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Traveling 60 MPH generates a wind of...60 MPH ! Just harness that wind...ANNNNDDDD...the laws of physics and engineering just vetoed that idea....

2
sometimescanbefunny 2 points ago +2 / -0

BOEING WOULD LIKE TO KNOW YOUR LOCATION

Really though - yesterday morning they were talking about a plane that had an engine catch on fire. They were like "how could this happen?" I looked over at my fiancee and said "if the engine is from Boeing, I know how." The radio then said something along the lines of "Boeing has pledged support in investigating this case" and she and I both erupted laughing.

2
EagleOverTriumph 2 points ago +2 / -0

who even needs wind and solar power? We can harness the power of lightning summoned by shamans!

2

0

Did they veto it? Sounded pretty good to me, lol. And I am admittedly not an engineer nor a physicist.

15
45willwinagain 15 points ago +15 / -0

The reason cars are designed to be aerodynamic is to increase the fuel efficiency of the car. If you just slap wheels on a brick it's going to need to work harder against the wind to move forward.

A wedge shape works better, an egg shape even better, etc...

These are things you probably already understand.

The blades of the windmill create drag.

That drag reduces the efficiency of the system more than the input of the windmill power generation.

the only time the system becomes more efficient is when the car is parked and the wind is moving the windmill without taking energy from the car to spin it.

...in which case it's far more logical to line the roof of the car with solar so it can trickle charge the system while in motion without creating drag.

there are other ways to help the system... for example regenerative breaking... normal cars stop you by friction which is dumped off/wasted in heat.

regenerative breaking systems find ways to either convert that heat into energy, or better yet, to use a combination of generation motors and capacitors to slow the car down while charging the system.

Check out "super capacitors" they are very cool and have lots of promise in this application.

2
Skyrison 2 points ago +2 / -0

2000's cars were the absolute BEST for aerodynamics! all the curves and sleek dome looking cabins and stuff. my 2004 audi a6 2.7t is aerodynamic as FUCK. the new cars are TERRIBLEE at aerodynamics

2
45willwinagain 2 points ago +2 / -0

There are lots of ways to skin this particular cat... some cars even create drag on purpose to generate downforce to give the car better traction at high speeds.

You've seen this every time you've seen a spoiler on the back of a car, but some cars do this with the car body itself.

Marrying looks and function sometimes creates magic, sometimes creates ugly dogshit.

But it comes down to taste, some people like smooth sleek cars with nice curves, some like the brutal look of an old menacing hot rod, others like the wedge shaped euro's...

It's all preference.

Personally I really don't care what the car looks like, as long as it's functional.

My favorite vehicle is the sherp and it's not aerodynamic at all. lol

1
Shroudedf8 1 point ago +1 / -0

Thanks for writing an easy-to-understand explanation. Makes a lot of sense.

1
rusmelcrowson 1 point ago +1 / -0

whatever energy you generate with that system is taken from the forward momentum of the car.

3
GeneticsGuy 3 points ago +3 / -0

The funny thing is even Elon Musk came out and said you'd never get a solar powered car because the MOST you could charge, on the most expensive and efficient solar panels with 25-30% efficiency, on the top of a car for an entire day sitting in the sun in a parking lot would maybe be enough to power a vehicle for 6 or 7 miles. so unless you lived 3 miles or less distance to work, and everywhere else you needed to go, it was useless.

1
slaphappy2 1 point ago +1 / -0

The whole thing is so stupid that only low-IQ progressives keep the nonsense going.

Solar Panels get so many different kinds of government subsidies, you cannot even count them. That's the only reason you see solar at all.

If solar worked, the market would just switch to solar regardless of what the government did.

It's that freaking simple. The fact that the market rejects solar means solar does not work.

2
PB_Mack 2 points ago +2 / -0

Umm... I hate to rain on anybody’s parade, but quite a few of the refineries in Texas are shut down right now after last week’s storm. It takes 20-30 days to get these things back online. We’re talking millions of barrels per day taken out of the US market.

Gas is going to be in short supply over the next month or so. The price is going to go up.

33
williammcfadden 33 points ago +33 / -0

It's been going up since December.

8
tholins 8 points ago +8 / -0

I understand that, and I know there are real problems with policy here. However, a .$60 jump from last week coincides with supply problems.

12
bidensmissingbrain 12 points ago +12 / -0

The increase from the Texas shutdown hasn't manifested itself yet. There will be a big jump from that no doubt. But since inauguration day, gas has been going up 10 cents a week like clockwork in my area. At this rate we'll be over 3/gal in the middle of next month.

3
SuckACuck4 3 points ago +3 / -0

And it's still not as high as it was back in 2018, or even the beginning of this pandemic.

2

4
MightyEighth 4 points ago +4 / -0

Yeah I love this place but basic economics doesn’t work like that. We haven’t even seen the effects of Xiden on gas prices yet to such a high level (it will be bad tho) as far as I know regarding policy.

As someone else has said the issues in Texas will make this even worse and it will be crazy high once that sets in.

0
LegalEagle22 0 points ago +1 / -1

That's how it always goes after an election. If your guy wins then everything negative for the next 2 years is a holdover from the last president, new policies haven't had time to kick in. If your guy loses, then everything from day 1 is the new president's fault.

2
Spicy_maymay 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, we'll see what gas is like in a month though.

4
tholins 4 points ago +4 / -0

I want to see prices stabilize somewhere not insane too. But we’re fighting a number of factors right now, which are admittedly related to government action but not as directly as some people seem to think.

For example, gas prices have been serious depressed over the past year due to the lockdowns. Demand has been down so the price was down. As people start driving again, especially commuting to work, we’ll see prices go back up. That’s inevitable, and would be happening under Trump as well.

Probably the best way to gauge the true effect of the Biden administration of gas prices would be to compare rates from the same time period in 2019, before the pandemic. I don’t have a crystal ball to see where all this is going.

1
hilboggins 1 point ago +1 / -0

It will go up regardless as Biden shuts down American energy. He needs to kill American oil to prop up Middle Eastern Oil so they can re-fund TERRORISTS that all but disappeared under Trump. That way we have an enemy to fight and a reason to keep the military industrial complex profiting... And with the reformation of terrorist, we can continue to have reasons to overthrow Governments and put in Globalist puppets that will bend the knee when time to form the NWO.

1
SuckACuck4 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm in my early 30's too. Do better. If you don't want to depend on the government, you've got to get going faster. And you can't fake the stock market returns. The S&P 500 is up 15% since election day and up 0.6% since inauguration day. The NASDAQ is up 21% since election day and up 0.6% since inauguration day, so things still aren't down since he left office. The stock market don't care. The S&P 500 was only up 20% annually in the 3 years between when Trump got inaugurated and the February high before pandemic affected it. You made in 2 months as much as you would have made in an average year before that.

Quit looking at your damn account daily. If you can't handle the volatility, put it in cash and then you can't see it burn.

Just buy solar panels from China and a new 50k electric car that you have to rely on the crumbling power grid for.

i'll accept electric cars when the left accepts nuclear

We were at 1.64, it's up to almost 3 a gallon now since Biden took office.

Has anyone told the left energy prices hurt the poor/middle class the most? And they want to "go green" and literally price the poor out of being able to afford electricity or fuel.

I think something like that would probably be necessary for us to get our revolution - people are still so content and happy with the myriad amenities of modern life that they can't be bothered to look up and realize that they're at the bottom of a loooooooong poop chute.

Crude per barrel is up from $40 level to $60 today from election day. It started to rise on Nov 3rd. Coincidence? I think not, as soon as markets saw Trump get cheated out of election, they knew the supply side of the oil sector will get destroyed.

I remember in 07 when it got up to 4 bucks a gal. Shit was insane. All the leftist faggots were riding in those annoying little scooters downtown.

Democrats voted for this knowing it would cost them, but doing so anyway because they care more about it hurting others worse. They are the party of schadenfreud.

Sadly, things have to get worse before enough people are fed up enough to actually do something.

Outside of California, it will be $8 a gallon by summer. Inside California, it will at least $11.
