Don't worry, AOC has assembled a team of progressive engineers to create a cheap solar-powered automobile.

If it doesn't work, they have Fred Flintstone's car as a back up. Feets don't fail me now !

That actually makes a lot of sense. Traveling 60 MPH generates a wind of...60 MPH ! Just harness that wind...ANNNNDDDD...the laws of physics and engineering just vetoed that idea....

Well, the laws of physics and engineering are like, racist. Diversity will move us forward.

Laws of physics and engineering are just a construct of white supremacy and it's racist that you don't accept my truth that i am a mutant twinspirit elfkin with superpowers from the planet vega.

...nazi bigot.

BOEING WOULD LIKE TO KNOW YOUR LOCATION

Really though - yesterday morning they were talking about a plane that had an engine catch on fire. They were like "how could this happen?" I looked over at my fiancee and said "if the engine is from Boeing, I know how." The radio then said something along the lines of "Boeing has pledged support in investigating this case" and she and I both erupted laughing.

who even needs wind and solar power? We can harness the power of lightning summoned by shamans!

omfg! that is a GREAT idea!!

Did they veto it? Sounded pretty good to me, lol. And I am admittedly not an engineer nor a physicist.

The reason cars are designed to be aerodynamic is to increase the fuel efficiency of the car. If you just slap wheels on a brick it's going to need to work harder against the wind to move forward.

A wedge shape works better, an egg shape even better, etc...

These are things you probably already understand.

The blades of the windmill create drag.

That drag reduces the efficiency of the system more than the input of the windmill power generation.

the only time the system becomes more efficient is when the car is parked and the wind is moving the windmill without taking energy from the car to spin it.

...in which case it's far more logical to line the roof of the car with solar so it can trickle charge the system while in motion without creating drag.

there are other ways to help the system... for example regenerative breaking... normal cars stop you by friction which is dumped off/wasted in heat.

regenerative breaking systems find ways to either convert that heat into energy, or better yet, to use a combination of generation motors and capacitors to slow the car down while charging the system.

Check out "super capacitors" they are very cool and have lots of promise in this application.

whatever energy you generate with that system is taken from the forward momentum of the car.

The funny thing is even Elon Musk came out and said you'd never get a solar powered car because the MOST you could charge, on the most expensive and efficient solar panels with 25-30% efficiency, on the top of a car for an entire day sitting in the sun in a parking lot would maybe be enough to power a vehicle for 6 or 7 miles. so unless you lived 3 miles or less distance to work, and everywhere else you needed to go, it was useless.

The whole thing is so stupid that only low-IQ progressives keep the nonsense going.

Solar Panels get so many different kinds of government subsidies, you cannot even count them. That's the only reason you see solar at all.

If solar worked, the market would just switch to solar regardless of what the government did.

It's that freaking simple. The fact that the market rejects solar means solar does not work.

Well, that's easy to do since most employed engineers are conservative.
