Seriously, we are headed for very hard times, your physical fitness will give you the best chance of survival. I'm not in nearly as good of shape as I was a couple years ago but I decided a few weeks ago I have to push myself as hard as I can so now I do my exercise until I'm sore, then rest and as soon as I feel recovered I'm right back out there again. I'm getting all kinds of minor injuries but that's a good thing because I want to get injured now and recover so that when shit really starts hitting the fan I'll be in as good of shape as possible.

Dont forget, gym strong is not the same as strong that will help you in tough times. Having excessive muscle mass does nothing for you. Been there done that. 30 minutes on a treadmill or even two hours does not mean you could walk that pace in real life over real terrain. You are better off walking some trail, or hills, where the ground isn’t moving for you and all you have to do is lift your feet while you are taking off 50 lbs hunched over holding the handle. And its really dependent on what else you do. Ive hired and fired probably a hundred guys over the years in the trades, and not one gym rat ever made the cut. The hardest working guys i know who can put out sustained effort for 12 hours are usually fairly lean with average muscle mass, or thicker big boned guys who never saw a gym in their life.
That last line. Right fucking on. Chaos is a fertile ground for rapid advancement.
Learn to fast. If you can skip a dozen meals you are going to be better prepared for tough times. Most people can’t even skip one.
I've only fasted infrequently, mostly through illness, heartache or narcology, but I've found it to be intoxicating and dreamlike after awhile.
I haven’t found that but each time I feel stronger and able to control my impulses better.
I do almost all my training outdoors, stopped lifting weights years ago, lifting weights is ok I think in moderation but tends to lead to putting on extra weight
I work a physical job, which i enjoy. Other than that, i do 35-80 miles of pretty hardcore mtb a week, thats my priority, but i supplement that with hiking, xc skiing, snowshoe, paddle boarding, etc and an acre lot to maintain. I dropped 30# of mostly muscle mass a few years ago when i got lymes, im old enough to have aarp sending me stuff, but im in as good of shape as i ever was, much better in some areas. I was 230# when i was a gym rat way back, im 170# now, it feels so much better. I used to injure myself all the time with weights, way too much bulk for my frame.
These days i do fun stuff for exercise, and every few years i find something new, this year it was pickleball, which i was surprised at how much a workout you can get with competitive players. Its got a social component to it, along with a mental/discipline side. The other thing is i like stuff thats free, and that i dont need reservations or whatever i can just go do it.
I like that attitude. The liberty you get from setting your own path is incalculable.

Good fitness training will. A routine that is centered around compound, translatable movements with work focused on explosive focus increases the exact strength your pretending it doesn't.
How do you think athletes improve "getting around doing shit" strength? It's not by doing flutter kicks I promise you that.
Your also confusing enderunce with strength, aptitude towards manual labor which just comes with experience, etc.. I'm not sure what the hell you're trying to say other than putting down people who have better physiques than you.
It's mind over matter... Seriously.
Busting out big moves for 3 minutes at a time will never touch the wiry strength of a tradesman that lifts asymmetrical weights all day.
I'll repeat though. It's your mind that cracks first. Channel everything you have into rough and tumble work and you'll get stacked (war ready not bulked out) fast.
