Seriously, we are headed for very hard times, your physical fitness will give you the best chance of survival. I'm not in nearly as good of shape as I was a couple years ago but I decided a few weeks ago I have to push myself as hard as I can so now I do my exercise until I'm sore, then rest and as soon as I feel recovered I'm right back out there again. I'm getting all kinds of minor injuries but that's a good thing because I want to get injured now and recover so that when shit really starts hitting the fan I'll be in as good of shape as possible.

No they are not the same.

Run until jogging feels like walking Then run with a plate carrier until it feels like jogging

You need to be able to run 3 miles min with a plate carrier to even get out of the car....

Why are randos giving fitness advice? This is terrible advice. What are you training for? What happens when you have zero aerobic enderunce because you've only been sprinting? What about the increase to cardiovascular health LISS cardio shows?

There is room for HIIT and LISS in every training regime. It's just silly to say "RUN DON'T JOG."

His advice was very practical actually. He's referring to training your heart to operate easily under 160+ conditions. As you probably know, adrenaline immediately spikes the heart to the 160+ zone. Getting comfortable in that heart rate zone as akin to walking would be vastly beneficial to all manners of fighting techniques. Being able to make it jogging for 10 miles at a decent pace won't save you when you have to engage tangos mid-run. Your aim will be shit. HIIT is good for this as well though because it helps train your heart to clock overdrive when needed and quickly return to a regular pace when needed.

Is HIIT better training for anaerobic endeavors than LISS? Yes yes and yes. Is it the ONLY training you should be doing? For any fitness goal? No no and fuck no.

Prolonged endurance is also important in many "combat" scenarios. Let's take Rittenhouse. Dude had to literally jog a mile before engaging in tactical self defense. If he had no long term aerobic enderunce he'd have had no hope when he hit the ground. That's not an extreme example either.

Even if you could assure your only encounters were short term anaerobic style exertion LISS still has a place in training. It keeps your heart healthy, body fat down, cortisol low, and can be done more frequently than HIIT so those who are overweight should he using it purely to drop excess pounds that won't help them in an altercation.

I'm not taking objection to the promotion of HIIT, it's great. I'm taking exception to a ridiculous over simplification that I worry people will listen to, and frankly it's bad advice to say what he said.

Just more dumb bro science.

I agree. I may have oversimplified. I was trying to express the importance of a well-rounded approach. HIIT seems like the more lacking skillet of the general population in my opinion but yes both LISS is equally applicable.
