Universal voting was never desirable. There's a reason why voting was so limited when the Republic was founded.

Yes, universal suffrage is one of the biggest mistakes ever made. I don't just mean women either. Letting new immigrants vote, letting people who don't own land, etc..

The original plan was not "One Person, One Vote," but rather "One CONTRIBUTION, One Vote." As long as you were producing for our nation, you had a stake in it, and could put your hand to the rudder and help steer the ship. You own land? You're not going to vote to destroy your land, there you go. What about your wife, though? She and you are legally One Flesh now, her vote and your vote are one vote. You have 13 adult kids? Oh, but they all live with you? They're not contributing, they're still part of your contribution, still just One Vote. Oh, but your Youngest Son, at the age of 14, has bought a parcel of land and built his own factory? Hot Damn! Get that young man his ballot, he's building America!
