Inhalation of any smoke probably increases the risk of certain types of cancers, but the really ironic part is that chimney smoke and forest fires are likely far worse than cigarettes: The particles are smaller and get lodged deeper into the lungs.

So, living in the state of California probably literally does cause cancer.
