They can't, legally. But they would go ahead anyways and use some horseshit excuse like "inciting insurrection" or something along those lines.

They had no authority to make changes to election law, and they did it anyways, and faced zero consequences for it. Do you think there's some magical barrier that prevents them from doing things? Have you taken a look through history? Tyrannical regimes tend not to care what the law actually says. They just do whatever they want. And since we watch them do this all the time, it's kind of retarded to think that they won't do it because "they're not allowed to" or something stupid like that.
