Politics is a shit world tbh, he had to pick someone the Senate would vote in. We all know if he picked an anti-establishment person like himself they'd be denied. The election was coming up and Trump HAD to know he was going to get cheated, so he sped the process up. That IMO is really all there is to it. The deepstate will never let another anti-establishment person into power of any meaningful position again.
The same goes for almost all of Trumps appointees the Senate had to vote in.
