Used to be, if you saw someone at work, school or outside a medical setting wearing a mask, you knew there was something wrong with them. They were being used the "right" way: an attempt to prevent healthy people from getting the germs of a really sick person if the sick person had to go out. They were not for healthy people to have to wear around each other.

Wife is a preschool teacher and just heard they're going back in-person but first have to go over all the mask-wearing propaganda to the kids and "have them understand why they have to wash hands all the time, and wear a mask". I suppose you're going to tell 3 and 4 year olds they can't sit next to their friends and have to stay at their desks with plexiglas boxes around them too? good luck.

It's disgusting. The BOE is requiring the parents to view these propaganda song-and dance videos with their kids to "normalize" wearing masks. This shit isn't ever going to end now. Even after "corona" is gone, they will just make mask wearing commonplace because of irrational fear of any other germs from common cold to flu or whatever else.

You don't fix rot, you replace it. I fully support local efforts to secure the localities all the way up to the state level but that's a luxury that exists in places that are not stage-4 terminal deep blue states. Those of us woefully outnumbered must rely on the communities that can do so and the rest of us will do what we can under the circumstances. And yes, I fully support the collapse because I have the intellect to understand that society will never physically pay down the debts that currently exist, especially when they increase indefinitely. Something has to give out at some point, there are no free lunches.

The people calling for the collapse are usually the most useless people during an emergency.

"because I have the intellect" go tip your fedora somewhere else, doomer.

Ah yes, your insult of "doomer" has such a great track record on this site. Instead of listening to logic and preparing for the reality at hand you grasp at utopian solutions that keep failing in the real world. It's called being prepared, which you know, would actually be a good thing during an emergency? It's as if you think people can't walk and chew bubblegum at the same time. You can both want for the system that is corrupt to collapse and also want to prime the new system to replace it. Gosh, and I don't have intellect? All I can say is... best of luck to ya.

So what do you do to work in your local community?

Your original post was giving up all hope on making any change. Your attitude is useless.

Well for starters, I work in government. As I said, I'm doing what I can under the circumstances and working from within the system.

And my original post said "It must be destroyed and rebuilt from the ground up." I honestly don't think you can change the course things are on, you can only prepare for what's to come. Can that come across as doomerish? Sure. But, if you prepare yourself for what's to come then you'll be ready to apply that change while everyone else is running around like chickens with their heads cut off. And I can't help how someone reads my comments 🤷‍♂️ The web ain't that great at carrying subtle context in how something is spoken.
