Is he trying to save face, knowing that his career is over (and his relationship with constituents) if he doesn't stand for Trump? He's even saying Trump 2022 is the way, and I know it could be a trick, but reportedly, people are trying to work double hard at getting RINOs out ( even if it's seemingly impossible). Scott pressler (who has always been based unlike Graham) is already trying to get America first candidates in Illinois.

I think so. He sees how badly McConnell stepped in it and sees which way the wind is blowing.
Even if he is an unprincipled hack, the fact that that windsock is pointing in our direction is a good indicator.
