My neighbor was one of the most patriotic people I've ever known.
"One man's terrorist is another man's patriot" he used to say.
Twenty years ago, he used to advocate for things that seemed inconceivable then but that we here expect any day now.
They can't codify what they call "terrorist attack" because we would argue they were acts of protest.
My neighbor relocated back to his home county in the middle east shortly after 9/11, but I think of him often and know that he would feel very happy to see what has become of our country.

“Despite the rarity of targeted left-wing extremist attacks, the persistent nature of grievances cited by the left-wing extremists and increased response to right-wing activity motivated more left-wing violence in 2020 than in previous years.”
