Reminds me of being at work...

People always try to tell you to show "empathy" for people when they do something stupid. (Before turning around and telling them they're still not getting that credit.)

This is why when you call tech support somewhere, they always have some canned "I'm sorry you had to call in today. I would also be very horribly upset if my cable was out. It's so important that it be up so I can watch netflix until the cows come home....blah blah blah"

Garbage. That's not empathy. That's treating people like little babies. And they wonder why customers are getting louder and whinier and always want to rant about how frustrated they are for an hour instead of getting their problems fixed?

When do you think all the bean counters and suits will realize that normal human courtesy was always enough as long as we fixed the dang problem?
