Yes, she is the face of nationalist-populism in France. I know the popular perception of the French is as these Parisian effimiate sissies, but thats pretty far from the truth. Her party is rooted in a French populist movement that was pissed off of France basically giving up the colony of Algeria. Also, her father was a hardass military veteran of both Vietnam and the Algerian War.

This is correct. They are conservative in a very European way--basically if you want to live in France you better adopt their culture. They are actually very nice when you learn their language and do as they do. But when it comes to economic policy they diverge from American conservatism.
France is strongly rejecting American "woke" thinking, even Macron.
