Modelling is a way of compiling data into a predictive tool. In practice, they have never been accurate enough to be used by any business that depends on their accuracy for making money. Even the best modelers, probably hedge funds, have to create methods for cheating to make money since their models do not work. I bet they've done comparative models with and without masks, shutdowns, or social distancing, and without any two or all three, and have found conclusions that they will not share.
