Stopped by Costco in Independence, Missouri tonight to pick up a bag of coffee beans. Took my mask off as soon as I was 5' past the greeter (as I usually do), went straight over to the coffee section, snagged a bag of beans and proceeded to the self-checkout aisle. As I'm tendering out, a guy with a clipboard (we'll call him CovidMaskFaggot #1) comes up to me and says "You're going to need to put a mask on if you want to shop here," to which I replied "No, thank you." He says, "In that case I'm terminating this transaction" and SHUTS OFF THE MACHINE! I looked him in the eye and said "Would you please turn that on so that I can pay for my beans and be on my way?" and he says "Not without a mask on." I said "Why are you acting like such an asshole?" He immediately gets on the radio and calls for a manager. I said, "Yeah - get manager, I'd like to speak with him." CovidMaskFaggot#1 scurries off to intercept the manager who has emerged from the back office (we'll call him CovidMaskFaggot #2). I make my way over there and say "Hi! I'd like to pay for these beans, please." Without missing a beat CovidMaskFaggot #2 says "Were you abusive to CovidMaskFaggot #1?" I said "Not until CovidMaskFaggot #1 started acting like a piece of shit to me." CovidMaskFaggot #2 snags the beans out of my hand, says that abuse of their associates will "not be tolerated" and asks me to leave. So I calmly left. Called wife on the way home and proposed canceling our membership...but that I didn't need an answer right away, just think about it. We spend a lot of money there on groceries and I expense office supplies there for my employer (work for a very small business - boss is out-of-state). I can't in good conscience go on rewarding that kind of heavy-handed authoritarianism with my hard-earned money.

they don't need money anymore... maybe money has no value and we don't know it yet
Cancel it.
Nah that’s just good communicating OP did the right thing here asking her first.
But wifey wears the pants.
She's actually pretty submissive. I wanted to involve her in the decision since she does the majority of the grocery shopping and terminating the membership will create more inconvenience for her than it will for me.
Correct choice! Hence the reason you have a wife!
Let her foot the membership if she wants groceries there.
I understand it's a team effort on most things. Some things are beyond the pale. You know that if that happened to the wife, the Costco membership would have been canceled within the hour.
Yeah that makes sense, he just said the wife does all the shopping.
Menards in Grand rapids michigan wanted me to put on my mask or he would walk me out. Told him let's take a walk. Went to lowes and spent money there.
Is Lowe's being chill over the mask nonsense?
I haven't had any problems there...yet. In fact, I've seen a lot of normal people (a.k.a. non-maskers) in Lowes. In Home Depot a few weeks ago one of their employees was walking around without a mask. One of the Karens that works there "reminded" him to put it on and he just laughed. There were a few other customers without them, too.
My HD and Lowe’s in SC don’t say a word. I only wear a mask when I get a haircut.
Stop wearing a mask to the hair cuckery then too. If they don't want your business then they won't get it. I'm sure some people will be upset to miss out on your tip.
Hard to find a good barber though... And breathing through a mask is not nearly so bad when you're sitting still.
We seriously need to develop our own economy.
Corporations should not have this level of control over us.
I cut my own hair, im fine with it buzzcut so learning was risk free. If I fucked up id just buzz it all down and call it good.
If you dont feel comfortable doing it get a friend to help, or just get some practice and be the friend that helps others. 20$ clippers will save you hundreds of dollars.
I've been using my $20 Wahl Clippers to cut my own hair for sixteen years.
But it's a bitch getting hair under it.
Learn to cut your own hair or have a family member do it. It's not that hard. People just never get into it because they're afraid of the 3-4 bad haircuts during the learning curve. I learned from books, but now YouTube has everything you'd ever need to know about it.
I have been cutting my isn hair for about 8 months now. I refuse to wear a mask at the beauty parlor. Besides, nobody sees me much anyway since the lockdowns.
Wearing a mask for a haircut is the dumbest thing ever. How they gonna get around your ears?
My Lowe’s sure as hell isn’t
This is why I ask where the fuck are these pedes here living...the ones who claim they haven't had to wear a mask the past 12 months. They are either LARPing as a coping mechanism for the masks bullshit they have to deal with daily or they are schizophrenic.
Depends on the store...some don't give a fuck and some are authoritarian.
Florida.
I think Florida is chill in some places and there is no mask mandate in South Dakota. There are places where they could probably be able to get away with it. Where I live, there's no way I could being a few miles outside of the Beltway.
No mask mandate in SD, but they can still refuse a person service. Costco's have always been mask-happy since the beginning.
I am thrilled I never bought a membership
It was them or Sam's, and I have no love lost for the Waltons. I still like buying in bulk and not paying through the roof for shipping.
One mile outside the beltway in a major city. But I live in the reddest part of the metro and I don’t venture far. Only ever worn one to Whole Foods (other side of the city) because I know they would chimp and not let me shop. Literally nowhere else and no ones ever said anything to me.
i live in ne alabama. my guy and i both had the wu-wu 13 months ago. he's now got cancer and is tested regularly; he's had to wear his mask at work and ended up with bacterial infections. i wear mine to dr's appts, but no where else. i help out a friend in her flower shop; she brought pretty embroidered masks for everyone to wear over valentine's day. "out of respect for the clients". i told her that they'll just have to respect the fact that wearing a mask makes me overheat and raises my bp. my pretty mask is still in it's lil plastic envelope and no-one had a hissy fit when they placed their orders for flowers. shrugs i only got into it once w/ someone in the early days...she literally screamed at me for not standing back 6 feet. "ma'am, i watched you literally lay on the conveyor belt in your filthy shirt to place your groceries, touch money, touch the mask you wear below your nose and you want to yell at me for only be 5' back? bless your heart." the cashier would probably have clapped, except she'd screamed at him too, about coupons.
I'm not sure about other guys, but my dick isn't anywhere near my anus. Have you ever seen a naked man? It's not like a woman where everything is super close together. I still wash my hands every time but that's just how I was raised. There's no shit on my dick
same here, unless my kneecaps have poo on them
A dick is surrounded by nuts and has an asshole for a neighbor
I live in a loony state. If they question the mask deal, I am polite and say no thank you. If they ask if it's medical, I nod. I've only had one place say something and that was zummies when I was shopping with my kid. We walked out.
I haven't worn a mask in Lowes or Home Depot since last summer, never had an issue....
Lowe's in my area is great with it. The only masks are on employees chins.
Menards isn't a bad place to shop, but I have to point out that the politicians are putting the burden of enforcement on retailers. If they don't force customers to wear masks they get fined, and/or shut down. It fucking sucks, but I blame the government. However, I still hate Costco because they've been dickheads from day one.
I've skated by under the radar for nearly a FULL YEAR now at the Costco ref'd in my post above, however today I got a double dose of authoritarian CovidMaskFaggotry. I was oblivious to just how hardcore they have been / are, apparently.
In CA, the mask faggotry just seemed to get worse as time went on. It's like as the COVID death hype ran out of steam, they decided to focus on regulation enforcement. It's so incredibly weird.
Ménards is BAD everywhere
I make them call the cops. In texas, you can't be arrested for any misdemeanor with not wearing a mask as the predicate. Then you have 1: a video of them calling the cops on the customer without any arrest and 2: evidence for a lawsuit
I should move back to Texas.
Some old Mthrfkr did the same thing to me at the Sun Prairie location -- I put it back on then took it off again 8ft. later -- these assholes don't even know the pain they're inviting -- sooner than later they're gonna bump into the wrong person
I would call corporate and tell them how you were abused as a customer and did not like being treated that way. Everyone has been so indoctrinated and brow beat into submission they are turning into authoritarian nuts. I don’t think any of these mandates are codified in law in most states, but the peer pressure is turning people into assholes. Is getting sad that almost all establishments are acting like this because of fear.
Mask enforcers are first-level CCP members.
WELL SAID!!
There are cameras all over self checkout. They'll just say he refused to wear a mask and all of the virtue signalers will be on Cosco's side.
money has no value for commies
If he tells the story like he tells it here, he is going to be ignored.
The fact that he went in with a mask is a big point against him.
Yeah, unless he approaches it from the disability angle and says that he wore a mask for a bit in "good faith" but then breathing was getting too difficult so he had to take it off. That narrative would be difficult to pull off now though given how he responded to the mask gestapo.
I fucked myself out of any recourse / remedy as soon as I asked CovidMaskFaggot #1 why he was acting like a fucking asshole after he shut down the kiosk mid-transaction.
We went from, "customer is always right" to "Party is always right" in a quick hurry. This isn't a free country anymore
Astute.
"customer is always right" if you want more money
if $ is expected to nosedive, you care more about masks than useless paper
this!
The last 2 time’s I was confronted by someone for not wearing a mask I said, “ masks represent lies and propaganda and I can’t participate in that”. They didn’t have anything to say to that. The best part, the last time this happened the greeter at Home Depot shouted at me as I was walking away, “why don’t you wear one” (I’m in there all the time and he has asked me multiple times to put one on) so I shouted back really loud “ because they represent lies and propaganda”. Lol
I like "yes mien fuhrer" and giving a 1 finger salute.
If I'm never coming back I might as well make an impression
Brownshirt, aisle 3.
KEK 🤣
Lmfao i believe you and am giggling at this idea. I love it
I think more people need to rip heinous farts during these interactions. Then say “do you smell that fart? It went through two layers of cloth and your mask. The reason you smell it is because small water particles from my colon have landed on your nose and tongue. Those water particles are thousands of times larger than an airborne virus.” Then walk away.
Huh, the Costco here doesn't do that. Independence, MO must be a shitty place to live.
the costco here still requires it- but that is because the state still has it in effect.
Texas needs to end this shit.
Or play their own game better than they do. Say you have a medical condition, and they are discriminating against someone with a disability. Demand they apologize and heavily hint that you know it's all bullshit while you do.
Terrible take. You are simply enabling and legitimizing the marxist cult grievance industry tactic.
Independence is a shithole gangbanger extension of regular old shithole Kansas City. It's to be expected.
Damn. Harsh, lol.
Harsh, but not inaccurate! 🔥
No he’s absolutely accurate
It's got a lot of potential. It will improve but there's a lot of bullshit to crush & burn in the ether surrounding it.
It is shitty but that has nothing to do with the local politics.
Before you cancel, buy a $1000 gift card so you can buy their cheap Top Tier gasoline without a membership card
Clever, pede!!
Put a mask on with big holes in it. None of the rules specify mask pore size
That's pretty fuckin' good...
It is not about any state, it is the woke senior management of Costco. I told a person who wanted me to put my mask on to go be a hero somewhere else. Unfortunately Sam's club is the same way. I am sick and tired of this BS.
Sam's club in Michigan has been good. No issues coming in with no mask.
Still have mask mandates in the state. Latest idiocy: high school sports finally allowed, BUT players must wear masks while playing. Kids are gonna have permanent lung damage.
You know what kills me about this is the punitive aspect. They could have let you finish your transaction and then politely told you to wear a mask next time. As things happened, far more germs were spread & more people/time involved than if he would have just let you check out.
It's not about common sense, it's really another way to divide Americans.
I told a co-worker that the masks we have for the office say right on the box that they don't prevent the spread of virus and in fact, neither to cloth ones. She immediately rolled her eyes and said "Oh, you're one of those."
They totally believe it. They are simply fucking idiots who don't know shit about virology, or molecular biology, and trust what the talking heads tell them.
Ugh.
Costco was always a cuck store. Why did anyone ever think different?!
Hard lesson learned ☠️
Costco was also in that top 200 business list of donors supporting anti 2A laws... sad really.
OMG - BARF :-(
That list is bullshit. It makes no distinction between contributing to anti 2a causes/groups, or having anti 2a policies, and does not define what an anti 2a policy is. No citations at all. Zero.
It was cool way back when you actually needed business tax ID to shop there. People would just borrow their company's tax ID card if they had a cool boss.
I canceled my Costco account because of your situation.
Your principled conviction(s) are admirable, pede.
Why do you give your money to corporations like that? Even after all that indignity you still haven't decided on it. Maybe you will have to pay more elsewhere, maybe you will have to drive longer, maybe the quality will be slightly different. But if you aren't even going to do that, how are things going to change. Forget about spending your time protesting, you can't even give up your comforts for a better future. This is not about your personally, or about the mask. This is about the gall of an employee, insulting a customer.
Your points are all valid.
We get back $500-$700 per year from Costco cause we buy so much there.
If they pulled that shit on me, I’d get both their names, and call up the REGIONAL Manager. I’d then explain to regional how I’m planning to negatively impact sales, by removing my business and telling all my based friends to cancel their Costco memberships.
Contact corporate to cancel. Don't do it through the store. Make sure corporate knows you're canceling and why.
Cancelled my membership as soon as this crap started. Don't need to pay a premium to be treated like shit. I can get that for free!
That's what makes it all feel so bad - I PAY for a membership to shop there!
The wife and I cancelled back in March/April of last year when they started requiring masks
Haven't regretted it a single day.
Didn’t Missouri just pass a no mask bill?
Missouri did the 2A bill. North Dakota's House passed the anti-mask bill.
My bad, pede...
North Dakota, unless there are others I missed
Holy shit if they did I am unaware! I believe Jackson County is putting the responsibility of enforcing mask policies on the businesses.
The idea that masks work is disputed and is a conspiracy theory not backed by science.
your dispute has been disputed
I spent 1k/month there. They tried to make me wear a mask. I dared them to call the sheriff. They let me make my purchase then I went to customer service and cancelled my membership. Fuck them.
RESPECT. 🤘🏻
money will have no value where they're going and they welcome it
Cancel it 360 days into the year for a full refund
GTFO does that work?! 🤯
They have a full satisfaction guarantee
I'm not paying $55 a year to save less money than I do by simply employing smart comparison shopping strategies and clipping coupons at other retailers. Seems like paying them $55 to join puts you behind the eight ball right away.
Yes, other retailers are cucked, but sometimes you have to weigh who's more cucked. Bullshit like this puts Costco at the top of the list.
Fuck mask nazis
Support small business. Try to get away from big box stores.
I USED TO spend about 250-500$ a week at Costco. When they went full ham on mask wearing with no exceptions, I stopped spending money at Costco. I've saved a shit ton.
Drop em buy from Local Independent Business
Amen, pede. Walking back the Amazon Prime habit aggressively this year already 🤘🏻
Who would have thought that companies would the arbitors of fucking mask wearing. But....here we are. Fuck em.
We're going to run out of places to get supplies!
That's pretty much what my wife said.
Fuck Costco. Who the fuck would pay to shop? It's a retarded idea!
My vision is much clearer, ex post facto. Your point is valid.
They kept you in the store longer arguing instead of just rigging you up and out the door within a minute
That cashier killed at least 100 grandmas.
I'd have walked out with the beans.
Just claim you are an illegal alien then everything is free.
Don't give them an actual crime for them to tack fake ones on.
The thought crossed my mind but I had my pistol on me and didn't want to have to deal with LEOs once they called the cops on me for shoplifting.
I usually just throw down some cash when the mask nazis refuse to ring up my shit, luckily the response times by me are terrible so I can easily leave without being hassled by cops.
Yep.
Just sounds like two particular asswipes not the entire company persecuting you or something. Cancel your membership if you don't want to try again next time with your usual M.O. or just keep it and say fuck em.
Pick a lane is my advice.
It's good advice 👍🏿
These people need to be taken out of the human gene pool. Back in the USSR they were called "вахтёры", look it up sometime. It's a state of mind and isn't compatible with civilization, any civilization.
Why would you shop there when they are like this? Cancel your membership. You don’t need 80 granola bars and a gallon of olives.
I let my membership expire. I dont have a Costco near me anyway. 75-100 miles away. I used to shop there when I was in the area, but quite frankly I havent made an effort since covid last spring since Costco were mask nazis even back then.
You can get your office supplies on line, free delivery, usually next day. I ordered Bounty pt from Office Depot during the Thanksgiving shortage and I got them them next day and I live 100miles away from the city. And they were not any more expensive than what I would pay at Walmart. Costco never has my fav brands anyway. You could always order from Costco on line, too
Great points, thank you for weighing in.
If the state does not have a law requiring masks, that was certainly bullshit. If the state does have a law requiring masks, your rights are being abused by the state. And any business that does not say the customer is always right deserves to lose their business.
No states have laws reauiring masks. Theyre only mandates
Actually the mandate has the power of law.
https://www.kcra.com/article/is-californias-mandatory-face-mask-order-legal/32912519#
But are Costco employees empowered to enforce the law?
That's why they all carry guns! As the Bible says "Woe be unto him who tries to steal a roast chicken from Costco."
Lol
Bullshit. Governors dont make laws
Exactly. If that's how it works, they could make vanilla ice cream illegal for no reason other than they felt like it.
Yeah. My concern too. However, in California, the state fined a gym $1,000,000 for no masks. Put them out of business. Last year, these pricks fined a surfer $1,000 for being alone, on the ocean. Fucking clown world.
There's still a mandate for Jackson County that they're holding businesses accountable to enforce. AFAIK.
Based storytelling pede
Also, Independence is only 20 minutes from KC. You will find no greater concentrations of the walking dead in MO than KC, Columbia and St. Louis.
I cannot argue with your statement.
At least they aren't WalMart or Target.
Surprised that happened in Independence.
They drew first blood, I'd have gone full gorilla at that point.
I'll be writing in as a witness about how disgusting these employees were!
Hey OP,
https://patriots.win/p/12hReSGmWq/does-everyone-here-understand-th/
Cancel it. And occassionally tour to open milk in warm places. Upside down. On electronics.
I like your style as well!!!
Costco is also on the list of companies supporting anti-2A legislation.
BREAKING! Water is wet.
BREAKING! Sky is blue.
My bad, I'm apparently late to the party 😞
Costco is also on a list posted elsewhere here of 200 businesses supporting dismantling the 2A. Isn't Costco heavily connected to the ChiComs?
Just left a 1 star review on this location
Thank ye (KJV).
