Try send some funds to another wallet
Try installing the wallet software on another device, see that your backup works
Store your backup safely, in multiple places, not just inside your own house

Electrum: lightweight and simple, many features, adjustable fees
Core: If you have plenty of storage space and a device that's often turned on, relatively user friendly after you've gotten used to it, many features, and the most secure choice.
