I assure you that the people who were glorified in the USSR were precisely the people who were fighting for censorship and reeducation camps. That's what Marxists call "freedom". Sounds absurd, but it's entirely true. Stalin sent messages to Russian soldiers telling them to "fight for the freedom of the motherland", while simultaneously sending other groups of soldiers to shoot those people if they retreated.
And let's define "equality" before we begin throwing that term around like the left. It's being treated equally under the law and not equality of outcome at gunpoint.
