Imagine seeing the government forcefully close businesses across the nation.
Imagine seeing the effects of government policy making those aligned with the establishment fabulously wealthy.
Imagine seeing democrats shake down cable providers for carrying the wrong networks.
Imagine the government regularly calling hearings for high profile companies to ensure they say the right things on matters of censorship.
Imagine the government pumping billions of printed money through the banks, and selectively bailing them out when the long running governmental distortions of the economy come to roost.
Imagine seeing all of this and still thinking we have anything approaching a free market.
BOTH of his businesses are nearly entirely reliant on the economic distortions/confiscation of government.
Your tax dollars are literally funneled to Elon Musk for SpaceX.
Regulations funded by your tax dollars force other automakers to buy "carbon offset credits" from Tesla for making cars the government likes better than theirs. Tesla makes more money off this than selling cars.
The government picks the winners, and vetos the losses when it wants to.
Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
Government contracts are a big part of SpaceX’s business, and I’m pretty sure the government partly subsidized the R&D for human rated spacecraft made by SpaceX.
But, I think government distortions play a bigger role for Tesla. Tax credits play no small part in selling electric vehicles
SpaceX’s business model is at least somewhat sustainable without government contracts since their goal is to get people and things into space cheaper than everyone else.
Tesla is a lot more dependent on the government, and they still aren’t at a point where their cars are affordable to the average American due to the high upfront cost, which is made even higher when you add extra features like the self driving capability.
Totally, he knows. His thing seems to be finding areas that have some kind of government influence. But at least other companies can use his services. And I think he has better hiring policies than the government does, or at least tries to.
The government offered subsidies so that would encourage automakers to build electric cars. We can’t blame Elon for taking them up on the offer. Of course he deserved some criticism since the Model S was $100K+ while being subsidized, but that early success also led to more affordable cars eventually.
I think he’s doing a pretty good job, though his taste in women could use some work. First Amber Heard and then Grimes? Sheesh...
I understand this sentiment is largely overblown, the 10x-cheaper stuff a fluff job. Better calculations put it at 10% cheaper, and that's with the semi-reusable primary-section rockets.
For the record, I don't care that it's not nearly as economical as Musk repeatedly claims; just being able to launch shit at all is a big fucking deal, and a capability the US needs domestically for many reasons. Tiny incremental improvements are fine, so long as a meteor or Yellowstone don't wipe humanity out before we have a few hundred years more of said incremental improvements to get us off the planet before it's annihilated one way or another. For all the wasteful spending on worthless projects, politicians pockets and foreign "aid" laundering, and of course, subsidizing useless people, a few hundred billion for advancing the art of space exploration is fine with me.
Your tax dollars are literally funneled to Elon Musk for SpaceX.
Even more is funneled to a whole basket of legacy aerospace contractors that have delivered nothing but budget overruns for 30+ years. SpaceX is a BARGAIN compared to Lockheed/Raytheon/Rockwell/etc/etc.
Totally, I'm not trying to disparage Musk or SpaceX here.
Simply pointing out that sucking up to government is clearly a winning strategy. Musk is unique in that he has managed to do so in a way that doesn't also fuck over the people more than Government does on its own.
I know. But the libertarian line is "the markets will regulate themselves" when clearly our government corporate hybrid is pretty far from a real free market
No, our rulers use government to crush the free market. That's not "regulating themselves" it's literally the exact opposite of what libertarians want.
I would note that economic theory -- also observed in practice in the real world many times over -- explicitly cites a number of circumstances around certain industries or market environments in which, even in an ostensibly "perfect" free market, a business enterprise can and will eliminate competition through a variety of means to result in an monopoly; so-called natural monopolies. A bit of shady (or clever?) business ethics can also stretch circumstances to prevent competition and in turn warp free-markets into more not-so-natural monopolies as well.
My old man used to say vis-a-vis his business, I love free markets, but I hate competition.
There’s a well documented history of corporate winners and losers in fascist countries. For example, Hugo Boss and Volkswagen were beneficiaries of the Nazi regime
Yep, anybody who looks at anything in America as representative of free markets is nuts. We are so over regulated and over governed it is out of control.
The democrats are in power, if you operate a business that is high profile at all you are incredibly incentivized to bend the knee and not rock the boat.
Since the State necessarily lives by the compulsory confiscation of private capital, and since its expansion necessarily involves ever-greater incursions on private individuals and private enterprise, we must assert that the state is profoundly and inherently anti-capitalist.
You don't believe in free markets in the first place. If you did, you'd know the difference between state and corporate collusion and our God-given right to exchange freely. The idea that America's system of fiat interests, built on a rock of moral hazard, is "free markets" is a fucking joke.
The American people are being defrauded at the most base level - our system of weights and measures - and your ass is here trying to divide us from one another.
Histrorically It was 2x4 when milled. IThrough the drying and planing process the dimensions are smaller. Nowadays, I believe they are milled smaller than their nominal size to begin with to achieve the same finished dimensions previously attained.
I was mocking the libertarian "the markets are doing fine regulating themselves" attitude that libertarians adopted during the censorship issues of the Trump term. I don't believe that the state collusion of protectorate companies is a free market. Hell I don't think we've had a free market for decades.
There's an entire very popular genre of filmmaking from the 80s to 2010s ish that essentially is, "I'm a 25-35 year old filmmaker who still obsesses about high school life so I'm going to make a movie about a fictionalized version of myself who gets everything I dreamed of when I was a teenager and be the cool kid."
It's because they aren't afraid of us. Did you see the end of the video? That guy is just out causally walking his dog after this. I always thought if America ever came to this, tyrants like him would have to hide in bunkers.
I see a certain irony in all of this. Just 30 years ago when computers began to get more and more attention almost every conservative "badass" and general "Chad" was laughing about the nerdy loser with the big glasses that sat at home all day wasting time with their computer. These same exact people that were those "losers" are now screwing conservatives and "cool guys" left and right. For me this is the ultimate case of "who gets the last laugh".
The good news is their application is overloaded with legacy code and their quite incompetent on delivery. They're only still around because their corporate partnerships. I can build a more comprehensive CRM/Business Intelligence stack with apps integrated through Zapier.
I can also corroborate - my employer is transitioning to SalesForce and so far the only real improvement has been the ability to search the CRM cases for customer phone numbers to quickly find accounts instead of just the contact records.
Almost every other aspect of it has been garbage though.
Have you folks seen their proprietary language called Apex? I'd run as fast as I can away from SFDC simply based on that. Smells like vendor lock-in to me.
I have not. I already know they are the bad guys and have for many years. Veritas is just catching on. This is exactly where I believe it is time for a major economic secession movement to being. They want to beat us over the head with their corporatist bullshit. That's fine, we only have the majority of the people.
I think it's time to start finding out who in the RNC is clutching pearls over this -- they've abdicated leadership, and if they were worth fuckall they'd be organizing us to participate in massive "resistance". Especially on the economic front where we can cause immediate and irreparable damage to these anti-American foreign agencies.
A lot of IT is like a retard building the last floor of a skscraper with dog shit. The last floor sucks ass, but the rest was built over decades by people that mostly knew what they were doing so the building is pretty unlikely to to fall down, at least unless the owner starts replacing structural members with dog shit.
I worked in IT when SalesForce was just getting popular. My boss wanted to replace our legacy enterprise software with SalesForce and I pushed back against it for this very reason. Giving a third party company complete control over your enterprise, and all of your data, struck me as a terrible idea even back then. Now we see the chickens coming home to roost.
Wait... they want to move all based patriots to their own secluded locale away from the public at large and the new world order so they can do their own thing and stay away from the government?
They used the lie that President Trump didn’t condemn Nazis after the events of Charlottesville for 4 years. Now they have a new story, this is how the global canal work their narratives.
The bay area used to have a large concentration of hardcore libertarians, however, many of the D&I people start funneling their way up into board rooms and now you have companies like SalesForce that have 49,000 employees filled with crazy ass lefties.
Don't think SalesForce is alone here. 90% of companies in the bay area are like this or worse.
Marketing and HR departments are mostly young, urban women and effeminate men. These departments don't even exist at smaller companies, but can become the tail wagging the dog by the time a company goes public. They are such a drain on society.
This. It's amazing how far left the tech community has shifted since the 1990s. It used to be all about destroying censorship and promoting freedom and now most of the people I work with would happily ship you to the re-education camp if they disagree with your opinions.
I mean, it's nice to curb them a bit, but they're just a CRM. A CRM any idiot can program. The value of SFDC is the ability to integrate into other production lines. Like customer support to order fulfillment or RMA. But you can build your own CRM to do that too.
SFDC isn't that special, honestly. I've used it heavily. For the company I worked for a single license was 1200 DOLLARS. For a single fucking license that you couldn't transfer to another user, so if you fired someone, you'd have to spend more money on the new employee to get them a license.
The head of the snake for all the tech platforms is the CIA (not j/k).
Meaning the level of force needed to dislodge their power goes far past some nice court cases here or there.
You'd have to study history to see what brings down thoroughly corrupt societies, which I imagine is often an external event like war or internal event like famine or civil collapse.
We're not quite there, but at a certain point there is only one remedy to corrupt gummint controlled monopolistic tyranny such as we are seeing across multiple industries and business platforms. Sorry, but that's how power works.
Likely we're already fucked, but the total collapse could be generations away. Seems more likely it'll happen in the short term considering the way everything is riding an exponential curve.
seriously it's technology, you have to develop your way out of it. Gunpowder and printing press, for example, shook things up.
and in that sense things are looking quite nice with home lathes/3D printers (guns) and crypto/alt-tech (money)
Don't underestimate "autists" who can't stand authority. And make sure to find them and give them your damn money so they can survive the inevitable establishment attacks.
That logic could be used to shut down any/all dissent. This is North Korea type thinking.
And of course it's only going in one political direction. You don't see these people talking about shutting down fake news that actually does incite months of deadly rioting - fake news like "George Floyd was murdered by a white cop". Noe, that's perfectly fine because those riotiers are all going to vote for them.
I say homosexuality and BLM should start making us 'incite violence' and they'll make sure all that content is removed from existence...I guess that's how this works?
It's stupid to turn away money based on politics. The company I work for has both the Koch brothers and Soros Fund Management as clients. But hey, they are not a platform, they are a private company. Let them shoot themselves in the foot if they want.
I'm sure they'll be fair and cancel relationships with other media organizations and politicians that spread misinformation and hate without taking sides....anyyyy daaay now
I see a certain irony in all of this. Just 30 years ago when computers began to get more and more attention almost every conservative "badass" was laughing about the nerdy loser with the big glasses that sat at home all day wasting time with their computer. These same exact people that were those "losers" are now screwing conservatives and "cool guys" left and right. For me this is the ultimate case of "who gets the last laugh".
Since the vents of the 6th, I think one of the things that really impact Salesforce is the national conversation about the role of technology in inciting that mob and disseminating misinformation and fomenting extremism.
The only thing that impacts salesforce is their incompetent developers. If salesforce itself barely works, good luck them trying to use their tech against patriots. The only other tech company that seems to make just as bad or as worse software is SAP.
Curious, from a technical perspective, if the leaker can be ID'd via audio or video artifacts in the footage generated from their computer. We need to protect our own.
I doubt it. There's not like watermark fingerprinting via zoom calls as far as I'm aware. Plus this is video captured from a screen, so I'm not sure that would be as detectable.
Watermark would be too obvious. I'm talking about audio artifacts that are below the threshold of what humans can detect, or video artifacts that only show up in nano seconds at specific intervals, either of which could easily be detected by trained software...I guess I am dealing in a what if scenario, and probably moot
I can barely keep up. I thought they'd use "hate speech" as the reason, but instead they used "Jan 6th event inciting violence." So at least they are keeping a narrative moving.
It's hard to imagine how this can be acceptable to their executives and stockholders once they lose some 15% of their business immediately.
I guess they are being funded by some method other than customers.
EVERYBODY SHOULD LOOK INTO YETI FORCE CRM, it's open source and quite fucking good for free. You can host it yourself. Richard Stallman was right, to be free you must run 100% free and open source software. Linux Desktops + Chromium (or Brave) + refurb hardware + ProxMox (for servers also check out their backups server solution) + OpenOffice or Libre office + Next Cloud + Yeti Force + Mailspring (really good mail client) FTW.
There is only one way to fix this problem and is not by voting at the local level. It won't even need a lot of people just some brave souls ready to give it all for their nation.
A time wasting customer database that ties you to your desk making you click around for 4 hours to figure out how to get 3 things done or makes you into a data entry gimp.
Ahhhh. I am so glad the free market is working as libertarians intend
It's not free markets, it's Fascism. Companies like Salesforce are chosen to succeed by our rulers because they are compromised.
^ this.
Imagine running a business.

One more point:
Look at the richest man in the world.

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
Luckily for us, Ron Swanson had a # of different short phrases accurately depicting government 😂
Too bad Ron Swanson was a parody, written with contempt by a bunch of communists in entertainment.
Musk can launch rockets far cheaper than NASA can.
Government contracts are a big part of SpaceX’s business, and I’m pretty sure the government partly subsidized the R&D for human rated spacecraft made by SpaceX.
But, I think government distortions play a bigger role for Tesla. Tax credits play no small part in selling electric vehicles
It's government distortion all the way down with Tesla.
Consumer tax credits make their cars cheaper.
Carbon offset credits force Tesla's competitors to give Tesla money to make the government happy:
https://www.cnbc.com/2020/07/23/teslas-sale-of-environmental-credits-help-drive-to-profitability.html
yes. It isn't a free market with subsidies or extra taxes on things that the government wants to control; Ie, the soda tax.
I have less issue for SpaceX than for Tesla. That is what I don’t like seeing with government making it as valuable as Ford with few cars being made.
SpaceX’s business model is at least somewhat sustainable without government contracts since their goal is to get people and things into space cheaper than everyone else.
Tesla is a lot more dependent on the government, and they still aren’t at a point where their cars are affordable to the average American due to the high upfront cost, which is made even higher when you add extra features like the self driving capability.
ha if u don’t like space x check out the Boeing shuttle deal. That was 5billion and 3 years late in 2019.
You're still paying for them.
I should note that I'm not trying to fault Musk here, he knows the game that's being played.
Totally, he knows. His thing seems to be finding areas that have some kind of government influence. But at least other companies can use his services. And I think he has better hiring policies than the government does, or at least tries to.

Its truly sad. Small businesses dwindle by the decade, and these bloated corporations get larger and more merged by the decade.
The carbon offset thing blew my mind when I found out about that. It's literally a money laundering scheme.
Tesla has made $1.5 billion in these credits
Elon being a cheeky fuck put $1.4 billion of that into Bitcoin, this really made the green communists REEEEEE!
END THE FED
State corporatism.
I know. But the libertarian line is "the markets will regulate themselves" when clearly our government corporate hybrid is pretty far from a real free market
No, our rulers use government to crush the free market. That's not "regulating themselves" it's literally the exact opposite of what libertarians want.
Exactly. This is crony capitalism, not free market capitalism.
Both companies are heavily subsidized and supported by the State.
The markets will regulate themselves if and when the government gets the fuck out of the way.
Commies gonna commie
Salesforce and their CEO, Marc Beniof are some of the most left wing people in Silicon Valley. They already banned gun retailers from using their software
What the fuck is it with all of these software devs attempting to run the fucking country?

It's because they aren't afraid of us. Did you see the end of the video? That guy is just out causally walking his dog after this. I always thought if America ever came to this, tyrants like him would have to hide in bunkers.
Nope. Just out for a casual stroll.
Did you ever see Lois Lerner try and enter her neighbors house to escape a reporter?
heh! Love it.

Think of the data that Salesforce has. If Facebook is powerful, the potential power of Saleforce is staggering.
Makes me feel good to know I’m not the only one with similar experiences.
Have you folks seen their proprietary language called Apex? I'd run as fast as I can away from SFDC simply based on that. Smells like vendor lock-in to me.
That's pretty much their business model.
I have not. I already know they are the bad guys and have for many years. Veritas is just catching on. This is exactly where I believe it is time for a major economic secession movement to being. Lmao. Actually, yeah, this is pretty on point. Lots of big tech giants are probably at the mercy of potentially collapsing due to this issue.
However, the financial sector is all built around COBOL and that code has yet to cause a financial collapse. So I might be too optimistic here.
A lot of IT is like a retard building the last floor of a skscraper with dog shit. The last floor sucks ass, but the rest was built over decades by people that mostly knew what they were doing so the building is pretty unlikely to to fall down, at least unless the owner starts replacing structural members with dog shit.
Sure, but the fact the skyscraper is still standing is a mystery to everyone. If something did break, no one would know how to solve it
Irony of this statement considering the H1Bs end up at the top floor... it's like the floors back home; made of bull shit.

Here's a good essay on this controversy by Craig Klein, the CEO of SalesNexus.com, a Salesforce competitor.

Support, use and contribute to Free Open Source Software (FOSS). Its widespread use is the greatest threat to these Silicon Valley monopolies.
Showing or talking about police brutality towards black people seems to incite violence so when will big tech start censoring that?
That's not "violence", that's "protesting" and free speech. When it benefits the left, it's encouraged.
It always cuts the same direction, against us.
"FASCISM should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power" --Benito Mussolini
Veritas is a real gem. Salesforce is now a political party operation.
Does anyone have a solution for the censorship and deplatforming of individuals over perceived political ideologies?
And I don't mean "war" or "secession", I mean actual ideas, laws, or other methods to prevent big tech from dominating individuals like this.

and in that sense things are looking quite nice with home lathes/3D printers (guns) and crypto/alt-tech (money)
Don't underestimate "autists" who can't stand authority. And make sure to find them and give them your damn money so they can survive the inevitable establishment attacks.
And the ecosystem of Talent between these companies ...Salesforce to Google round and round we go.
Always thought Benioff (Salesforce CEO) was a bit of a douche. This elevates him to Pierre DelDoucho status.
SalesForce is absolute fucking garbage anyway
as someone who used it daily, can confirm. The program is laggy as shit and almost unusable a couple hours into the day.
There is only one solution remaining.
Dude was on the street right next to him. Didn't do it. SMH
I say homosexuality and BLM should start making us 'incite violence' and they'll make sure all that content is removed from existence...I guess that's how this works?
Bunch of faggots. Nothing Brett Taylor said was his own thought. It's a script given to all these phony fuckers.
It's stupid to turn away money based on politics. The company I work for has both the Koch brothers and Soros Fund Management as clients. But hey, they are not a platform, they are a private company. Let them shoot themselves in the foot if they want.
I'm sure they'll be fair and cancel relationships with other media organizations and politicians that spread misinformation and hate without taking sides....anyyyy daaay now
F salesforce
sales force is owned created by a muslime POS i think.
Woke capital, woke social media, woke corporatism across the board. Technocracy will be the death of us all, IRL someday.
We will never overcome this, it's already too late. Building your own platform is like building a dingy when Noah had the ark. Utterly useless.
They have yet to see extremism.
The only thing that impacts salesforce is their incompetent developers. If salesforce itself barely works, good luck them trying to use their tech against patriots. The only other tech company that seems to make just as bad or as worse software is SAP.
CONCUR is truly the devil.
"January sex"
What is it with leftists and fruedian slips?
What I mean is since this video is a video captured from a screen, things like low threshold audio or video elements might not come across.
Maybe not. If printers supposedly have secret printed code on the paper, why not microphones and digital video recording.
Cucks. 4 years of claiming russia stole the election while antifa riots. This country is a fucking disaster
Bret, you whiny, pencil neck, pussy!
Ironically, Stallman is an insufferable liberal and self avowed socialist.
The firmware in his NIC (network interface card) isn't open source.
This COO is dumb as the day is long. The libs just conned him into ruining his company. Just threw half his customers away.
See Vox Day - ‘SJW Skinsuiting’
I have to use their software every day. Fuck
Deplatforming customers is an interesting business strategy.

Devils advocate here.
How is salesforce ever used to share “right wing ideas that might cause violence”?
There is only one way to fix this problem and is not by voting at the local level. It won't even need a lot of people just some brave souls ready to give it all for their nation.
WTF is SalesForce ???
A time wasting customer database that ties you to your desk making you click around for 4 hours to figure out how to get 3 things done or makes you into a data entry gimp.
My employer uses Salesforce. This is fucking infuriating. There's nothing I can do about it. I might have to quit my job.
Hmm was wondering why my friends were leaving salesforce for competitors.
I interviewed for a job at SF a few years ago. So glad I didn't take the job. What a bunch of leftie cucks
Pence’s Indiana buddies from the left coast.
