The image represents only ONE layer of woven threads. There are, of course, multiple layers that increase the chances of any individual particle being obstructed/trapped, thus REDUCING the number of coof particles that get through. Hence the 1-mask=75%, 2-masks=90% claims. This "covid is smaller than mask holes" argument as a claim that masks do nothing is misleading at best.
No. Masks reduce the concentration of contaminants passing through it. It reduces risk en-masse. It does not eliminate individual risk. Is the benefit worth the cost? Maybe, maybe not.
At what concentration or viral load does someone catch the WuFlu? The CDCs own data shows "no significant" evidence that these masks prevent the transmission of Flu or WuFlu. Tell a virologist to wear a surgical mask while working with these viruses.
No idea. All I know is the OP image, and the general rhetoric on both sides tends toward the idiotic. A mask is not 100% effective. It's also not 0% effective. On a macro-scale in public areas, it seems obvious to me that mask wearing would reduce the amount of virus in that environment. Masks stop large drops of spittle from landing on surfaces, and protect your mouth and nose from the same. Handy if in a crowd. Personally, I don't wear a mask (mostly), but I live in a sane State that avoids the impulse to micromanage it's citizens.
If anything this picture waaaay over represents the virus’ size. You’re not seeing a virus at 25x. It would blow through two masks as easily as one. If you can breathe through it, a virus is getting through. That’s just common sense
Of course it is. Nobody EVER claimed masks stop 100% of anything. Wear Saran Wrap if you need that. But masks DO block a measurable percentage of anything that is forced to pass through it. Some fibers are bound to get in the way of some particles. What percentage?? Is it significant enough to matter? That's unclear.
A percentage gets through. Nobody has ever seriously claimed otherwise. Some mask material is bound to obstruct some virus particles. The layers are there specifically so the masks can filter out particles smaller than the gaps between fibers in a single ply. Defense-in-depth. Now, the question of whether the benefit is worth the cost is a separate issue.
That's not true. Plenty of people wear masks of high quality to filter out all types of dangerous materials and viruses. You just have to use high quality ones with great filters and you can't use them for extended periods of time. They also have to seal completely and securely on your face. Plenty of professional industries rely on masks for protection.
Now these masks are different than the worthless surgical masks and tshirt masks that CDC and others are pushing you to wear.
Then prove it. This is totally incorrect. Surgical masks, or any of the masks people are wearing for that matter, were never designed to stop viruses. Go all the way back to the Spanish Flu pandemic. They pushed the mask propaganda back then, too, and turns out, they were full of shit. We have been wearing masks for the better part of a year. If they worked, this scamdemic would've been over long ago. Even workers wearing N95 masks way back when this started still caught it. If you want to be safe, wear the airtight suits they wear in level 4 bio labs. All this other shit is just a security blanket for the sheep.
Yeah, I have to agree. There's been no compelling evidence that anything short of a respirator with P-100 carts or a full suit will do anything to stop the transmission or contraction of this or any other virus.
Even if the coveted N95 worked (no conclusive evidence that they do) a virus with a 99.98% recovery rate doesn't warrant the use of PPE on healthy people to begin with.
In my state people have been forced to wear masks in public since July. In November after several months of people wearing masks the covid numbers went through the roof and over the past month have dropped 70%. All with no change in mask rules. You might argue about people staying inside in the winter, but people were still inside when the numbers dropped. Masks make a negligible difference at best.
I began tracking the stats here in OH after masks were mandated. For a while, the daily case count fluctuated up and down with no change, and then there was a large spike again. Almost as if masks have no value....

No significant evidence that masks prevent the virus from spreading as the stated by the CDC.

Masks don't do jack shit. Period. If you can breathe through them, that means air is getting through, and so is any virus.

Lots of evidence right here: https://taketheredpillnow.weebly.com/

It's like you didn't read my comment and you are replying to something I didn't say...

Probably. Too bad we can't get some reliable scientific analysis to quantify the efficacy.
