Good thing it's a revolver. I don't think you're getting a semi auto working after storing it in the shower

Many islands in the Caribbean to not allow boaters to have guns onboard in their waters.

The live-aboard boating community solved this with hidden gun compartments beneath the boat. Apparently, there's a bit of a niche market for this.

And they plan on diving under the boat to get the guns before the other boat closes in on them?

I've heard two answers to this.

  1. Trap door accessible from inside.

  2. Take it out as soon as you leave the dock.

Again, I'm relaying 3rd hand info.

Yeah you could forsure, I shoot in the rain all the time. Polymer striker fired pistols and hammer fired. Modern weapons will still fire under pretty extreme conditions.

The AR15 will shoot buried in thick mud.

Actually, the AK can only take so much, interestingly enough. Check out Forgotten Weapons' InRangeTV channel, the AK becomes bolt action.

Would you explain the difference, relating to storing a revolver vs. a semi-automatic gun (regardless of being in a plastic box)?

A revolver is a much simpler firearm with less moving parts. If you store your gun in a place like the shower, with the humidity up and down, temperature up and down, etc. you're going to probably have issues with condensation getting in and on the firearm, probably rusting and jamming everything up. A revolver will generally tolerate that and still fire much better than a semi auto would. If I were to have a shower gun, I would definitely pick a revolver. A lot of people choose revolvers for home defense because they're simpler to use (stressful situations), tolerate storage better, and dunt have as many issues with jamming.

I would keep some of those anti-humid, do-not-swallow, packets in there just to be safe.

It's not so much about revolver vs semi as it is about stainless/coated parts vs highcarbon/uncoated parts. Both designs are available in almost rust-proof polymer/aluminum/scandium/titanium/carbonfiber/dlc/cerakote/parkerized designs. That leaves the springs and barrel in both designs to take care of.

Looks like a SW 442. Sweet little gun.
