Raise your own or join with someone who can, then have it processed by a small time processor. We don't buy any meat from the store, unless I'm wanting to make hot wings. The prices can do what they wish, but we always have two deep freezers full of meat, beef, pork, and chicken from our land in one and the other full of deer, wild hog, fish, and wild game in general. We thrive on grass fed longhorn beef and we only feed them to keep them coming up to the corral and that's only about once or twice a week. I feel sorry for anyone who chose to live the city life..they are basically government controlled concentration camps that people chose to live in. At some point people are going to choose to leave those hell holes. People say they can't be entertained in the country..we are very well entertained and our entertainment is much cheaper and better for the soul. I'll choose this life over wasting our money seeking short snippets of excitement and wastefulness until the day that I die. It's time for people to make some serious decisions about what they want in life. In general, choosing to live should be the top priority.
At what point can you afford NOT to find a way out of the city? Find like minded people and split a spread if need be. I'd rather live on half an acre out in the country than live in the city. I'd take a single wide trailer house over living in a luxury city apartment. Can't tell you how much I hate cities and those who think they are somehow super special for living in them. Of course knowing that they will be the first ones to bite the dust and deal with what is coming always gives me satisfaction.
Well, that's all I needed to stop eating pork.

I'm in town because I couldn't afford a place out in the country.
