$7.25 is a joke, but the corporate politicians could care less. People would not need the social safety net if they were making a living wage. If politicians want to rid the system of things like Food Stamps, then it is time for the Federal Gov to step up and force companies to pay workers more.

The bullshit talking point that millions of jobs would be lost is exactly that, bullshit! We live in a mostly service economy so those jobs are not going anywhere, and any manufacture that does decide to close up shop and ship jobs out of the US need to be penalized with huge corporate tax increases. Just because they ship jobs overseas for cheaper labor does not mean they still do not have any US tax liability because their headquarters are still in the US.

If they want to ship their jobs out make them relocate their HQ and leave the country with their company to live in China, Mexico, and any other cheap labor country.

A lot of companies did move their headquarters to a different state. We need manufacturing jobs and our U.S companies to stay in our country. I don't agree with making corporations pay a fine for leaving our country. We need to keep them here. Service jobs got replaced with machines, like kiosks. My state's minimum wage is more than 10 $/hr. Like I said previously, it's because we decided as a state that when cost of living goes up....so should the minimum wage. Tacoma/ Sea-Tac area, through some city ordinance, raised their minimum wage above what the rest of the state was paying. Our state HAS required businesses to offer sick leave even for minimum wage earners. $7.25 is a joke, that I DO agree with. I don't see Right to Work states, like Idaho, raising their minimum wage without federal minimum wage going up, push the state to pay a living wage. Companies like their profits too much.
