The only way to get rid of Diebold, ES&S, Dominion and all other closed private black box voting systems is to provide a FREE open source solution and end the private voting system market by making it worthless.
I'm positive there is enough technical prowess in the Pede community along with viable and debugged open source to make a viable open source voting system with self-adjudication happen, and happen quickly.

Coming here to say this. Pen and paper. Manually count votes at precinct level with one member from each party. In person only. Total number of votes must equal number of people that came in to vote. Results available on election night. Done.
It is pen and paper. You fill out your form...You scan it in...the system will show you what you selected...you self-adjudicate what you see as correct...you get printed receipt...paper form gets put into a secure locked box under the scanner....encrypted vote result is placed on a secure blockchain.
Paper only. No scanning. Manual counting. Even better, PUNCH CARDS. These can be counted and/or sorted with a non-computerized electrical system, and/or verified if close with a hand count. But, in order to switch to this, you have to put a whole bunch of crooked politicians and crooked county election officials in jail for stealing elections. Otherwise, the alleged illegal under-the-table money for computerized hackable systems is just too much for them to pass up.
