I think there is a very small number of people out there (probably a couple thousand in the entire US) that legitimately have a brain imbalance that causes them to feel like they truly are supposed to be the opposite sex. A lot of these people probably wish they didn’t feel this way and wish they felt like the sex they really are. I feel bad for those people. That would be a very hard life.
There 100% for sure is way more people that have decided to be trans because they view it as a way to be different, get attention, have an identity. The second being trans is no longer hip they will stop being trans. These people are also mentally ill but it’s a lot harder to feel bad for them.
