The numbers of suicide and student overdose is jaw dropping. I wish we knew the true toll.
I have a friend who lost 2 of her young men to a gathering in a rented hotel room of kids who missed seeing each other. A stupid one in the bunch brought pills, others bought food and sodas etc sadly the pills were laced with fentanyl. A handful died that night. It was NOT a suicide pact it was just kids needing to get out and be around each other. 1 family lost 2 of her sons that night.
In Arizona my God Daughter was on campus, Frosh, 2 deaths on campus before Halloween. They were to assume it was OD or suicide and not really talk about it, but continue on. It is becoming too common.
