Leads back to what I have been saying for years, government office should be treated like a military service. It may not be something you want to do, but it is something you need to do for your country.

You get chosen, you serve one term, where the government pays the equivalent of your salary before being elected plus a bonus for the trouble, and by law your old job position is protected and available to you once you leave office, like how military service currently is.

This way you prevent career politicians, prevent corporations controlling the government, and a lot of the other bullshit you see in polticis. "But inexperienced people won't be able to handle the office!" Well this just means the government is too powerful if this is a concern. There were times in our country where voter turnout was <10% because that is how little federal government mattered. Let's get back to that, fuck this whole government belongs in every little aspect of your life.
