When I was in middle school, this crap was made fun of. A short while later in high school there were some "woke" folks protesting to stand against "oppression" of them.
I knew someone that was a member of the LGBTP+ group. The individual appeared to have serious family/home issues. It didn't help matters that this person was into some creepy, bizarre stuff.
Take the time period when people are the most insecure, confused about damn near everything,and desperately seeking some way to be special, then drench the media that group consumes with the wonderfulness of all things lgbtq++++++++++++++++++++, and you get this. It is this generation's version of being unique by joining the current alt trend. At least the goths could take the black makeup off. Surgery and long-term use of hormones can't be magically erases.
