Damn right. It's because we are here on the ground with our kids and we know that all the good intentions (being kind here) in the world don't mean anything if they cause your kids to make life choices that are going to lead to more suffering in the long term.

The thing that really gets me is the idea that it's nothing but a matter of personal desire as to who you partner with and how you raise your kids - that is has no long-term consequences for you or your society. To create and sustain a stable family life is one of the most important and challenging tasks any person faces and its just so arrogant to think that there will be no consequences to undermining the traditional family. I am not "anti" anything - I treat everyone with care and respect and would stick up for anyone I saw being treated unfairly or with cruelty or malice whatever their race, creed, beliefs, lifestyle... but that does not mean that all choices are equal or that lifestyle choices don't have consequences that go far beyond your own personal considerations.

It's sad that I know even writing this puts me beyond the pale in the eyes of many I know and love.
