If a kid is confused, or experiences bad luck with the opposite sex, they’ve driven it into their skulls that it’s okay to be gay now. So if it’s okay, then I’ll try it! Says the confused kid going through puberty who doesn’t know what to do with all those hormones.
It's either to upset their parents (it's a form of rebellion and something they think their parents will hate) OR it's to identify with something their parents are fixated on, hoping that if they identity as that group the parent will finally pay attention to THEM (and sadly that's not going to happen... they ignored you before, they're going to ignore you now).
