I’m a millennial and I remember there being 0 transgender people in my high school, one or two gay guys, one lesbian, and a few bisexuals. You had to really look to find people who weren’t straight. I can’t imagine what it’s like now. And you can’t give me that “well they were afraid before and now they aren’t” nonsense because my generation never shamed lgbt people. The increase in recent years is solely because the media is promoting and praising it so much.
Its one big larp being labeled as reality. As these kids graduate college and become independent, the news will shift towards, "all these kids that were out during college are suddenly going back into the closet and turning straight again, something something hetereonormative something happened!"
