To add on to the end of your comment, there is also a power dynamic of an older person, let alone a family member, has over a very young person that makes it very hard to resist the person and easily brainwashed into thinking this is normal behavior.

He wasn't the first family member to abuse her, and she wasn't the only family member abused. So in a sense it was normal.

I get what you are saying, but no, no, no! Child abuse is a crime. It harms the child.

What you are saying is that the family is a mess. I agree. But thieving and prison time also run in less well-protected families, and this is not considered "normal."

Agreed. I wouldn't say normal, it's more habitual.
