I vote that my home and property to also secede. Why should I, or anyone, be controlled by others just because of where we live? I live in Clackamas county, OR, one of the three counties that include Portland but are mostly not Portland. Theyre just enough inside the metro area to have enough to have the votes to be blue but include large amounts of red area. IIRC 4 out of 5 of our congressional districts are similar in that they are mostly red/rural with fingers poking into Portland metro, making them all blue. Portland metro really should be one county and one congressional district, but i digress...

Im tired of not being allowed to "own" land because property taxes are just rent (and theft). People can live with one another while not being controlled by the same group even when they live next door to one another.

I pay $50/year in property tax for 20 acres of undeveloped forest land about 20 minutes from the nearest town. If I were to build a hobbit style house without pulling permits and keep it out of sight I could continue to pay only $50/year which I could easily earn doing odd jobs for a day or two and not have to report the income.

Hell, put a buttload of funds up in an account and pay a liar...lawyer, to make sure the payments are made and keep records. Have him come by the Shire for a visit if he needs to discuss anything. Fall off the radar otherwise and enjoy life.

Nope. Making under a minimum amount you don't have to file taxes. Also odd jobs are paid in cash so it wouldn't matter.

Yeah, it really sucks and is essentially proof of slavery that there is not a single state in the whole country where you don't pay property taxes. You literally never own your property, you are just renting it with a huge upfront buy-in, in some places you don't even own your car because they tax just having one, every single year and not even a little … like $1000 per year for an avg car.

The civil war didn't end slavery, it just made it more profitable and easy by enslaving us with taxes. Who knew that the Southern Democrat plantation owners just had to tax their slaves 100% of their disposable income and tax things like crossing county lines and tax feeding themselves and tax clothing themselves and tax doing anything and tax buying anything.

Seriously, sure, you have more "freedom", but after you pay for your housing, food, clothing, taxes, etc, just to work to stay alive you are literally only marginally more free than a slave.

We are all slaves by a thousand fees.

Multnomah and Clackamas County are way to big. No way should Multnomah take over all the way out to Corbett. No way Clackamas should be blue either. They are using huge counties to steal people's votes using people close to the city. Its sad. Portland is such a trash dump. People have 0 respect for for environment here. It's all a bunch of virtue signalers.

Yep! Been here for 3 years and work in downtown. Trash heap. We now have 3 tents right outside my store off 3rd Ave and when we told the cops they literally said “well, they’re 6 six feet from the storefront, so...” this place sucks and it’s funny all the virtue signalers are nowhere to be found as soon as shit gets real, or time to take responsibility comes around. A fucking plumber from my home state (NJ) drove to Texas this past week to help them with busted pipes and purchased his own supplies. A typical Portland cityfag won’t even leave his apartment at this point other than to pickup a deconstructed coffee from his favorite SJW cafe.

OOC, why isn't there more vigilantism removing them and their tents? I feel like it would be easy to be so obnoxious that people find somewhere else to live...

Because Portland has a vibe of quiet resignation. The problems here are overwhelming and on top of it all is a weird social structure that people have created that makes it so everyone that would do anything already left and the people still here are merely virtue signalers talking the talk but never walking the walk.
