I see the problem - you're one of these people who thinks it's legitimate to take words that people say, with a specific plain meaning that they intend to communicate, and you take those words and lay onto them a completely different meaning / "interpretation" that the speaker did not intend.
Attempting communication with people that use this bad-faith "interpretation" (scare quotes because it's not interpretation, it's just mis-attribution of your own creative writing) is futile.
Rather "demanding people recite a mantra with a loaded and amorphous meaning to prove in-group status."
And I don't think they're nutjobs. I think they've probably looked at the current political landscape and made a decision to play by the "new rules" that have enveloped them. I just don't think there's enough of them to matter. I also don't think there's a 100% correlation/overlap between them and "racists" - a term I personally define as "someone who thinks that an individual's inherent worth as a human being is determined/influenced by their race."

Prove me wrong. I call this the Winnie the Pooh Test. Repeat after me: White Nationalism is a Cancer on America.
White Nationalism is a Cancer on America.
Figures, demanding forced speech. Just like a leftist.
How is that forced speech? Either you think the Make America White Again folks are nutjobs or you don't.
Anyway, I'll take the "L" here. I'm wrong.
Ok, fair - "forced speech" isn't the right term.
