Rather "demanding people recite a mantra with a loaded and amorphous meaning to prove in-group status."
And I don't think they're nutjobs. I think they've probably looked at the current political landscape and made a decision to play by the "new rules" that have enveloped them. I just don't think there's enough of them to matter. I also don't think there's a 100% correlation/overlap between them and "racists" - a term I personally define as "someone who thinks that an individual's inherent worth as a human being is determined/influenced by their race."
The "new rules" made up by identity politics is Racism. The current surge of white nationalism is absolutely a reaction to the Black Lives Matter cancer. In fact, I would call it a metastasis.
Anyway, I've seen so much here that I am absolutely convinced they are a danger to this board. It appears your experience here has been the exact opposite.
I've seen a lot of what I'd call inflammatory language here around race. But it being an anonymous internet site born out of Reddit with a dash of 4chan, I guess I'm just agnostic as to whether any given instance is real racism or just trolling inflammatory shitposting and "freedom of navigation" type exercise in "free speech". So maybe I ignore it more than I should.
I think the "new rules" is more "tribalism" - but that tribalism certainly is a fertile breeding ground and safe haven for actual racism (again, I think the real definition of racism is solely defined as an assessment of someone's individual worth as a human being based on or influenced by their race).
How is that forced speech? Either you think the Make America White Again folks are nutjobs or you don't.
Anyway, I'll take the "L" here. I'm wrong.
Ok, fair - "forced speech" isn't the right term.
