I enjoy a good argument, and even the occasional shit-fight, but I learned early on from my debate coach that there are two sources you can never use in a debate - The Bible and Reader's Digest.
No matter what you feel in your heart, citing Scripture is useless in changing the minds of people who aren't already believers. Readers Digest, People Magazine, etc? That's self evident.
This is a moral war, not a political one. Same reason we didn't decisively defeat the Muslims, because we brought a political ideology to a religious fight.
I told a Christian the same thing yesterday when they were losing a Twitter debate to a teenage atheist.
You need to consider who your audience is. Are trying to convince that person you are addressing or are you trying to influence anyone who witnesses your dialog with the person?
