How can this happen to US Officials with Official Diplomatic Passports?
I have had a few different kinds of passport.
When I was in the military overseas, I was a classified courier between my duty station and the US. When I was performing official duties, my passport and courier letter prevented this kind of BS by foreign national authorities.
Later in life, I was a DoD employee stationed overseas. I had an official passport with a status of forces stamp, as did my family. My passport and SOFA stamp prevented foreign national authorities from doing certain things that were covered by the status of forces agreement in place at the time. Not at the same level as a diplomatic passport, but way better then a tourist passport.
So I don't know. I don't see how this could happen to any US official carrying any Official US Passport. But these are not normal times. And maybe they are not really US officials. Or maybe they are and this is a sign of things to come.
So if Biden is begging, maybe it's because they do not recognize his diplomats? Why not? Maybe they are not actually diplomats? Maybe they don't hold diplomatic passports? Maybe they are not legally authorized or entitled to a diplomatic passport?
