I just got back from a weekly Constitution class and have some breaking news. Douglas Gibbs teaches these classes around the state and I'm pleased to call him a friend. You can find the replays or Zoom into our class here: http://www.douglasvgibbs.com
At tonight's meeting, Doug dropped some big news, but first some background.
Doug and a few knowledgable friends maintain that Kamala Harris is not eligible to be VP or POTUS because she is not a Natural-Born Citizen. Both of your parents have to be US citizens to be eligible and neither of hers were. This is not another "birther" conspiracy.
They are doing something about it and have filed a real lawsuit against her. You can read about it, or donate to them here: https://constitutionassociation.yolasite.com
It has been a bit of a challenge serving her with the lawsuit. They tried to do it a few times in California, but could never get anyone to answer at the gate. They were trying to find a service to serve her in DC, and found another route. There is something called the Capital Process Servers, Inc (A branch of the OGC) that actually is located in the Senate Building and exists for this exact purpose. They also only charge $100 for the service.
So, with no further adieu:
YESTERDAY, KAMALA HARRIS WAS SERVED!!!
This means she has 21 days to respond. She'll likely try to get it thrown out on technicalities, but the lawsuit is pretty strong. Read it for yourself.
There's a long way to go in this endeavor and I'll post updates here as I get them, but damn if this isn't some wonderful news. The whole room burst into applause when Doug made the announcement.
I remember putting these peices together a few months ago, but since she was born here and her mom became a citizen it'll probably be thrown out. They haven't heard a single one so why would they hear this?
The lawsuit explains this, but I'll do my best to summarize.
The real legal definition of eligibility says you have to be a Natural-Born Citizen. This is clearly laid out to mean both of your parents were US citizens at the time of your birth. Neither of hers were citizens at that time, therefore she is not eligible. It's a pretty straightforward case and the guys who filed it know the Constitution better than anyone I've ever met.
This is the first time she's been served with a lawsuit, so no court has ever weighed in on the subject.
Too bad our scotus doesnt uphold the constitution anymore
That's always a risk. Still, this is a strong case and there are many shades of corruption.
obummer was born in kenya . it didnt matter. Hope something happens But not holding my breath
This would be a slam dunk in a country with a still functioning Constitution!
US vs Wong Kim Ark already ruled that children born on US soil and under the jurisdiction of the US govt is a natural born citizen regardless of the citizenship of the parents. That's basically how "anchor babies" are a thing.
A lot of idiots in here believing this shit.
Heels Up was born in Oakland, California. Anyone who could read would know that US vs Wong Kim Ark says that she’s a natural born citizen.
I believe citizenship and eligibility for POTUS are separate issues, but it's not my area of expertise.
Being a natural-born citizen is an eligibility requirement for POTUS among a lot more other requirements not tied to citizenship.
I am not an American citizen. My children are. They are natural-born because they gained citizenship by virtue of the conditions of their birth without additional actions for naturalization. My children pass the citizenship eligibility requirement for POTUS.
No hyphen between natural and born. Each word has meaning according to established law. This is important, as it says there must be a factor in addition to being a 'born citizen'.
You might be correct. I took the hyphen straight from the website and questioned in myself.
See my other comment. Much muddier details.
