That’s nonsense. Multi family homes were the norm everywhere, and are still the norm in the most populous places in the planet like India, Japan and China.
I don't think the "yay pizza" represents a kid, retired grandparent, or a hardworking adult child. I'm pretty sure the author is praising the idea of kids staying home till they're almost 30 with no financial obligation.
Renting has utility when really young and unable to lay out capital for major expenses. A renter provides most of the capital for where they rent but are under no long term expense or maintenance.
However, once you have a small bit of money saved, renting hurts you as you don't build up any equity in an asset.
both sides are true. both are sustainable in a free market which the u.s. is not.
"capitalists", as marx called them, arent the problem. its the corporatists as mussolini defined them.
My siblings and I are 22-30 and still live with parents. Our parents and siblings lived with our grandparents until 2000 when we moved to another state. We have much more generational wealth as a result and nothing is wasted on rent. We all have good careers, good education, and I'm engaged. My family bought land and we all live on it. Renting is a scam. The artificial demand for housing is a scam. Build stronger families and buy land to develop.
And for what it's worth, while young I stayed at family property where I either paid rent or did other labor on the property to cover my stay. After a few years I bought a house and now at middle age am only a few years from paying off the mortgage. I also own several acres elsewhere. By the time I'm 50, I should be financially clear and only need income to provide daily expenses and luxuries.

Absolutely. Your children were your retirement plan. You provided daycare while they worked.

Have you seen the price of college? Even community college makes rent while on minimum wage impossible.
I'd like to ask the meme maker if their parents ever paid for any major expenses, like a car.
Yeah, college is a financial scam. Learn a trade and get paid $60/hr at 22.
I think so too. But multigenerational homes are still a good thing.
Asian multifamily homes.
Children go to school, focus on school, grades, and extra curricular activities.
Parents go to work, are main bread winners.
Grandparents help take care of the children and cook meals.
WTF is wrong with this?
Absolutely nothing and it’s probably the best way to create strong family bonds
That’s absolutely gorgeous.
Close family. Great support. Lots of love.
Keeps the rabid leftism at bay.
Both sides of this image are a problem.
Renting is a fucking scam. 90% of your income after taxes goes to paying off someone else's mortgage.
it wouldnt be so bad if maintaining properties wasnt so expensive and would be more affordable way to start out.

Lol I don't pick up pizza. I make the darn pizza from scratch.

Left: Struggles while young and healthy to accrue resources which assure an easier life when older and less capable of hard labor.
Right: Burns through parents accrued wealth while avoiding youthful labor resulting in harder times down the road.
