I think in some ways it's great that they are going after Trump. It will inevitably divide their side it's an obvious wedge. Yes they all hate Trump for the most part but how many of them will still hate him AND ALSO want him thrown in jail a year or so from now?
Because time is a factor, this only works out 1 of 2 ways: either the country is doing relatively well and it's going to seem cruel to after Trump or things are going worse than before and it's going to seem like scapegoating and deflection by a flailing Biden administration. Both can be used against them by their opposition which will help to further their cleave support.
